Lmao, just had to try this at least once:

Of course, those fucking axe guys ruined my swag a bit but i pulled it off.

I think tonight i'm going to try to back track and see what was past that myst fog. This really looks like the end boss of this entire area, so i definitely think i shouldn't have come this way before exploring what was after the fog barrier. Just need to come up with an ingame justification for going off track at this critical moment lmao. Actually the idea i had for this video was to rush towards the boss and get killed, but i didn't expect to meet an NPC before the big battle so i decided to just stop it there. Let's see what bullshit exscuse i can come up with to justify backtracking from a roleplaying point of view, one that doesn't involve me just pissing my pants lel.

Not gonna lie, that was pretty fucking sexy :incline:

Oh fuck it, it was inevitable that this thread would get me to start another run. Need to get my fix of them cling-clangs. Played for few hours today, just stopped at "Upper Tower - Antechamber" bonfire where I got my 6th Estus Flask. At least it ain't gonna be a massive time investment.

You care about cheevos? I always justified additional runs with "gotta platinum this shit". Always felt somehow less time-wastey.

No, I cannot fucking stand hunting achievements or ranks. Not the way I ever play games. I just replay stuff that I enjoy playing. I'm a simple guy. I derive pleasure from just getting better and better at combat. I'm certainly way more brazen in encounters with multiple enemies at once now than I could ever be on first couple runs. And I have to be or otherwise I'm rarely at any risk anymore. It's fun just yolo-ing in and trying to survive the chaos.

Cut right before the drunken fatlord fight.

Like i said, the idea was to get killed by the fatlord so as to create an ingame excuse to go explore that other part first but i got tripped up by the NPC being in the way. I cut the video and was thinking of redoing it but i didn't want to mess up on some story or quest by engaging the boss prematurely so i gave up that idea. The point was to show case a bit of all out violence anyway, which i accomplished i think.

BTW, the fuck the Codex was inaccessible for like several hours the hell is going on. Gonna try to update my progress but it's getting kinda a late i may have to do it tomorrow.

Accessible to me but very laggy, pages taking 10-20 seconds to load. And it's still doing that btw.

So anyway Wolf pisses his pants and decides the fatlord has to wait lel.

Backtracking to the myst fog path, i see what i'm up against: a perilous hillclimb heavily defended by archers. Unable to scout my way upfront, i decide a lateral approach may be in order. Indeed, it seems there is an alternative path, but it seems i may not be able to avoid having to fight my way through it entirely, and from a distance i spot what appears to be a boss:

On the way down, i see another stream. Ignoring the bandits for a moment, i decide to make another attempt to find those special carps, despite expecting nothing more than those mundaine aggressive variants. To my surprise, i do find a carp towards the end of the ravine:

On the side, there is a little goodie, but right next to it, i see a makeshift bamboo door, which, when hit, reveals an hidden passage:

Scaling upwards, i find myself on the very top of the hill. From a distance, i observe the smoldering fire. I fear for my ward, but something told me this path needed to be followed first:

On the side, i see that boss again, but he will also have to wait:

I then turn around, where a tall temple reveals itself to my eyes, and on the roof i spy what looks to be a dangerous enemy:

An all out sparring match ensues, but after some struggle, i prevail:

Inside the temple, i find a beautiful set of armor and an important weapon:

I now realize this may have been the pagoda the "polite" looter tipped me about. Did he know about the assassin?

No matter, i am now able to charge that fortified hillclimb, which requires all my might as the burly giant guarding the bridge is accompanied by a shielded escort:

Eventually, i reach the summit, where i find myself again facing the smouldering estate:

Moving forward, i'm confronted with a shocking sight: the fire rages much harder on this side of the mansion, and in the midst of the smouldering flames, i see a man who is non-other than my father. Dream or not, i am compelled to kneel in front of my lord:

He appears to be dying, and those being his final moments, i pay heed to his words. It seems he wishes to bestow upon me a means to save the Divine Heir:

He then explains a means to reach the Estate mansion (which just so happens to be the very place i was at to begin with. I guess i was right i should have taken this path first):

Having done all he can to save the Divine Heir in his final moments, he then admonishes me never to forget my duty, to which i am bound with my very life:

At last, he is dead:

With renewed purpose, i gaze at the insourmantable wall of flame that is preventing me from reaching the Divine Heir for one last moment, before setting out towards the Estate mansion again and face the final challenge:

While I can’t wait to see your face get caved in once you’ll face your first real boss, you’re doing pretty well so far, keep going!

Also, you can parry the fatso’s club, just for future reference.

I love this game so much. I wish I had a reason to replay it. I 100%'d it without save scumming save files, which means I had to play through it 3 (or 4?) times to get all the endings. I can't recall, but I loved it.

The only thing I didn't like was that after the first playthrough, it basically just is a big rush to all the bosses, and you can pretty much bypass all the enemies. Which sucks, as the levels are very well-done, so I wish basic enemies were more challenging for longer.

Lyric Suite if you like this, you should play Jedi Survivor 2. I know you would be obligated to pretend to hate it, as it's Star Wars, but it's actually a pretty good Sekiro clone.

Funnily enough my first "real boss" (the dude on the horse) is the only one I beat on the first try instead of dying a billion times, which is what I've been doing to all other non-trashmob enemies.

The fact that you die so quickly to bosses in this game if you mess up makes me wish they'd done away with the bonfire thing and just given you checkpoints right before the fights. It's not a Souls game anyway.

As long as you have the firecracker (which I didn’t initially  ) he is the easiest one of the real bosses. He is the “Use your prosthetics tutorial” essentially.

I have no idea what that is, lol. From eavesdropping I did pick up a tip that horses are scared of loud noises, but haven't found anything that does that.

Oh, well done then :shredder:
But that means you missed the merchant located on a raised platform before the ogre.

Very well done on the purple ninja btw, lyric suite. Aggression seems to be paying off.

At first i tried dodging his kicks. That just led to endless combos and him twirling around like a spinning top so i was forced to man up and just try to deflect everything. This seems to be a recurring trend btw. I had the same problem with the general. Whenever i tried to play "strategically" it just turned into a mess. Pushing back as hard as you can appears to be a winning strategy if you can get your deflection timings right.

BTW, i just realized the first death doesn't count for the Dragonrot thing, only the "true" death. Might explain why i got a notice about the infection later than normal. Since i want those videos to look good i'm resetting them after the first death, where i resurrect and just port back to the Idol to start again lmao. Effectively, i'm playing without the second chance mechanic. I suspect i won't be able to get away with that on the real bosses though.

Yes, in fact very soon you'll get a tutorial message echoing exactly that sentiment. You straight up can't beat most bosses with passivity. That's why this is the best combat ever made.

This game feels like a drug already. I'm getting butterflies in my stomach just thinking about my next gaming session. The last time i experienced something like that was with Dark Souls 1 years ago. I tried sparring a bit with the fat lord this morning but i couldn't beat him before going to work now i'm feeling physical pain since i have to wait until tonight to try it agian lmao.
