Looking forward to some new classes. I find the Elf to be completely worthless so far. Maybe it's the nature of the first act, but there's rarely enough time to get off ranged shots. And because 50% of the characters are melee, the party make up -- if spanning across every class -- tends to heavily favor close combat.

Rangers can GM daggers, and daggers are (like all previous M&M games) arguably the best damage. Rogue types have always been endgame kings in M&M games, though, so it's no surprise they seem weak this early.

Yeah, give your elf daggers/swords and dual wielding. Makes them rip the crap out of things and have a better chance at avoiding being blocked.

It's kind of ass against the kenshi, though--really high chance to miss with offhand with the skill levels you have in the demo, and misses = additional attacks for kenshis.

On dungeon creation: https://mightandmagicx-legacy.ubi.com/opendev/blog/post/view/behind-the-scenes-dungeon-creation

WHEN YOU DECIDE TO BUILD A DUNGEON, WHICH ARE THE FIRST STEPS?

First we define the setting and atmosphere we want for that dungeon. The story also plays a role in this, because all of this has to fit. Next, we make a layout plan, just like the ones that many fans did for the dungeon contest. The plan defines how many levels the dungeon will have, how big it is, where the walls and doors will be and so on.

WHAT HAPPENS THEN?

Next, we build the general structure. That means walls, floor tiles, everything that is shown on the layout plan. Then we start adding the first details, like decoration, light, all the stuff that adds to the atmosphere. After that, we implement the interactive elements, like monsters, traps, secrets and dialogues.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL, RIGHT?

No indeed. We do a lot of testing, try different variations, and of course we add some sound, which is very important for the atmosphere.

HOW ARE THE DIFFERENT WORK STEPS OF DUNGEON CREATION SHARED AMONG THE TEAM, AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE A DUNGEON?

Basically, each dungeon is built by a single person. Certain elements, like for example the dungeon layout or the dialogue texts, can be done by someone else, but usually a dungeon is a one-person-project that takes between five and ten days, depending on the size and complexity of the dungeon.

WHICH FACTORS MAKE DUNGEON CREATION COMPLEX?

Lots of small rooms and lots of game mechanical finesse make a dungeon complex, and that of course adds to the time we need to create it.

HOW DO YOU MAKE SURE THE DIFFERENT DUNGEONS IN THE GAME DON'T RESEMBLE EACH OTHER TOO MUCH?

First, we have different tile sets, like for example Castle, Palace, and Ruins. The different assets have to be used differently, for example some types of dungeons need to be built with thicker walls than others, due to the way the tiles are designed. This makes the dungeons seem very different in the first place. But of course we also try using the assets we have creatively, doing unexpected things with them in order to make it beautiful.

BY THE WAY, WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE COMMUNITY DUNGEON?

We are currently checking how to adapt the specifications we got from the community to what we can actually do with our engine. For example, the teleports Sandro has put in his layout make the party jump from one level to another quite often, which generates a lot of loading time. We're trying to change that, so it will be more fun to play.

So what was the Easter Egg? I watched that video over several times, and nothing jumped out. Unless it's a Heroes of Might & Magic reference. To me, an Easter Egg would be Lord Slayer's court jester Foof telling jokes in the background while the falcon kingdom and angels are discussing Serious Matters.

Come on, you can use the hidden spoiler function.

I can't install the unofficial patch. The unpacker is in German, and when I choose english it starts unpacking, but then says the patch is for some other language version.

I don't even have the game man. Post something on the game's official forums: http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.php/466-Might-amp-Magic-X-Legacy

I don't want to register...or can I just login and use my Uplay account to post?

Are we forgetting the storyline of 6? 7?

"LOL WELKUM 2 CASTLE CONTEST, FIND SOME STUFF ON THIS PARTY ISLAND AND YOU GET A CASTLE FOR FREE. :))))"

I wish people who never liked Might & Magic would stop using X as an excuse to bitch about the series.

Ahahah, MM7 was the best MM up until now (this will beat it I think....but not sure yet) I loved the good/evil choice in the middle of the game. BUT that opening was horrendous. MM6 had a much much better opening that really pumped you up.

I actually liked the opening, it had this great vein of humor running through it with the idiot adventurers who ran off and got eaten by a dragon. I guess I respond better to well-done humor than well-done seriousness, heh.

I really liked the intro video to MM7 as well, with the juxtaposition of the goblins lying to Archibald while the video shows the player what actually happened. :P

There was absolutely nothing better in 7 compared to 6 except for some gameplay tweaks and additions. It was made while they were under duress from 3DO to produce a game every 8 months, and it showed.

Skill system.

Of course if you're going to dismiss this as a "gameplay tweak" and dismiss gameplay changes as "nothing"...

Otherwise MM6 is the better game, but it's not as if I haven't been saying this for 14 years now.

New patch:

Here are the 5 things to know about this update:
  • 4 brand new classesare now playable:Scout,Druid, Mercenary andShaman.
  • As decided in the “What to patch next” poll, the“item comparator”feature has been added to the game. You will now be able to compare a selected item with the currently equipped one from your inventory or merchants’ shops.
  • Many of you asked for it, thus theday and night cyclehas been extended.
  • 2 additional languageshave been added: Chinese and Japanese.
  • More than 100 bugshave been fixed based on your feedback.

It automatically started updating on Steam for me, no need for workarounds.

Strolling through Sorpigal after the patch... wait... what?

They added a barbecue to Sorpigal. These motherfuckers are eating better than I do.

(On a more serious note, clutter and detail seems to have been added all over. In addition to the game performing exponentially better than before. And looking better. Lighting was improved drastically.)
