Well, you're right. Got the releases' timelines a bit messed up. But Leliana is a much better character than Liara ever was. Her becoming a mistress of the underworld felt so forced, a true asspull. Leliana being a bard always felt justified and not entirely out of character. Even with the Imoen image. I had to google Aria, barely remember her and tbh I didn't had that DLC. The asari as a whole are fucking boring tbh, and only good as porn fodder.

Seems like I have to replay ME. It's almost been a decade now, I think the last time I went through those games was like 2015 or so.
Liara's a worse character overall but I think Leliana's more annoying in that her character in the later games doesn't change at all based on anything you do in DAO. She's always been one of the prime examples of Bioware slapping players in the face regarding C&C.

Convinced her to give up her old life for good in favor of the Chantry? Too bad, she's a crazy bard again and now she's an atheist.
Romanced her? Too bad, throwaway line of dialogue, no other effects.
Killed her? Too bad, Origins Leliana was just a dream the whole time.

With Liara you never had any input on her character, with Leliana they undid almost anything the players could've done in the stupidest ways to make her DA's Liara. Maybe it's just the consequence of DA originally being meant as one game without sequels. Nothing between O and I isn't retconned.

Both Leliana and Liara are annoying because nothing you do with them changes, however Leliana's character is much more jarring. All the points 9ted6 pointed out with Leliana are true, and you can make those points because you had the chance to make a lot of choices in regards to Leliana. There really wasn't anything to do with Liara other than romance her so her change from shy, historian nerd to strong, independent womyn information dealer was just writers being retarded. They didn't spit in the face of the player ignoring anything with Liara other than having to restart romance with her in both ME2 & ME3.

Both characters suffered from what I speculate is a writer wanting to self insert some strong woman character.

There are no sexy characters in Mass Effect. Not even Miranda.

Sex appeal was sorely lacking but that's fine since romance in BioWare games is trash.

Imagine, a whole race of "sexy" aliens that were strictly women, whose whole thing is to breed with every alien race imaginable, and they look like this:

Uh god why, my eyes fuck.

Definitely agree with this point, although I did find Liara to be a legitimately attractive character. Maybe not exactly sexy, but I did like her

It was kind of a bummer when I realised that they have sex with brain signals or whatever the fuck
Imagine Femshep's line "You're attracted to me even though we're both women?" appearing in a game today.

I never understood the Miranda phenomenon. Like her actress, she is considered very attractive for some reason, to me she looks like an aging bartender.

The only sex appeal Mass Effect had, if there was one, ended with the first part. After the scandal with the Titanic scene, Bioware was afraid to touch anything that had to do with real sex.

Who's worse anyway, Liara or Aria?

Liara's worse. And it's funny considering that the whole point of the Shadow Broker dlc was to basically turn her into Aria. For her part, Aria is actually pretty good if you sidestep her appearances in the spinoff material and stick to ME2 where she serves as a Virgil-like figure for a renegade Shepard.

I get not finding any ME characters hot, but not even Yvonne Strahovski? You sure you aren't gay?

Yvonne is (was) fine. Miranda, however, is "Hi. I'm 35 years old, have two children from two different fathers and I want to speak with your menager".

Your moms panty drawer
Its hilarious how easy it is to derail a shitty thread like this on this website. Half of you niggers on codex bitch about romance in games but all it takes is some shitty R34 to get you all talking about it.

If you go through old ME artbooks, they keep saying they had a priority to design female characters as sexy as they could --probably going for that Barbarella effect.

This was absent for future entries' artbooks and the problematic artbooks weren't included in the goodies giveaway they did a while back.

I liked Miranda's character.
Gotta use a mod to make her less manfaced. She's supposed to have been genetically manipulated to look more attractive yet she's got a brick chin.
