Sounds like bugs. Mostly. Not sure about that Amplified Thrust.

In PoE2 for example most spells/powers benefit from ranged attack/damage bonuses (for example from pets, rings).

Also, Sagani is two Dave Attell jokes rolled into one:
For me, Sagani will always remain one of the most weirdly specific examples of representation in media ever since a goon talked about their friend who's an Inuit woman with dwarfism who happens to own dogs and practice archery.

It is unfortunate because once you remove the Dwarven cultural trope and imprint Inuit onto your dwarves you're just left with snow-midgets.

Though I would like to add that I'm mostly joking and really enjoying this game. I paid full price, it's worth every penny, and Josh needs to cheer up.

started playing the game. chose path of the damned difficulty. what a clusterfuck of a game. might for mages?? I watched a talk by Sawyer where he explained his reasons for this abomination of a system... he wanted to be "inclusive" and allow whacky builds to be viable like the genius barabrian or dumb mage...

music is very sparse, is it good? dunno, first dungeon theme is literally ripped from skyrim.

did all the quests in gilded vale... very MMO-esque experience.. kill and fetch quests.. I guess the bear quest had a twist.. wow

currently fighting my way through caerd nua.. wave after wave of the same phantom/shadows... I was actually enjoying the game up until I met maerwald and omg who wrote that shit?

honestly, I am done with Obsidian. New Vegas was their magnum opus, even though it was an unfinished bugfest.

they have proven that even with their own IP and millions of dollars in backing and practically unlimited time they still fail to deliver a good game.

what can I say, I was not particularly excited to play this game in the first place. just thought I'd add my experiences with it after finally getting around to playing it.

I did play Outer Worlds when it came out and it was utter shit. You can just see them trying to come up with something good.

first it was like yo let's make balders gaet.. let maewald be like the master in FO1.. yeah that's dope, and don't forget the gay characters and "we need more women like you to lead our great army" to appeal to nostalgic cRPG gamers.....

then it was like ok so that didn't work.. how about we try to make fallout new vegas... but better! well that didn't work out either now did it.

you can just see them struggling... their lack of talent and inability to come up with something original is almost sad

AHHHH, the Bleakfalls Barrow (and really any Draugr cave) music, holy shit, I caught that too, but Skyrim stinks and it works better here. High pitch icy choir, and the opening chords might be identical but I don't have perfect pitch and didn't care enough to grab an instrument. I only care when shit sucks ass, like that wistful lydian schmaltz used to score Diamond City. Fallout 4 sucked, but was rendered unplayable by the score.

Anyway, I'm now at the ruins above Dyrford and I'm finding it harder to play. I guess I'm feeling some of what the codex talks about when they talk about POE. Let me see if I can't put it into words. Very few of the locations are interesting, intriguing, or comfy, with Gilded Vale and Dyrford being the worst offenders so far. Compare that to the Infinity Engine games, Temple of Elemental Evil, Divinity: Original Sin, Drakensangs (fuck you I like 'em both), where the settings themselves are characters and are woven into the narrative. In any solid cRPG, visiting a wondrous place is a cornerstone of the experience. It's hard to quantify, and the music might play a part, but it's definitely more to do with a sum-of-its-parts thing.

And Caed Nua sucks a bucket of ass; its sole purpose seems to be to suck the wind out of the player's sails.

Yes, the music in POE is good; it's inspired and expressive, it might be sparse but everytime it comes it really conveys a feeling of the lore and location. It's not too chatty or ornemented, and tells a lot with a few notes, actually, the exact opposite of the writing in this game. It's mostly minor though, and adagio, well, not the combats pieces.

Anyway, the graphics and music are certainly not the offenders here.

The White march is good too (like is this expansion overall, better encounters, better everything) :

I wonder why he didn't use gamelans in POE2 too, would have fit the theme.

Rest of the game varies in quality and expectations, caed nua is just an infinity engine game dungeon crawl with modern sensibilities. Perfectly reasonable take.

Caed Nua is the highlight of the series.

You consider the phoned-in scope-creeped mandatory kickstarter goal with copypasted encounters a highlight?

Stygian Abyss II.

Escape from the pit while still sucking required for full experience so that’s not something pros will really grok. Necessity is the mother of invention and she’s awfully doting when you find yourself underleveled in a room full of casters and a Big Drake.

That cocky Ironman YTer getting owned out of nowhere 17 episodes in by those Ogre Druids also instant classic.

Only lowlight Kana’s “quest” or lack thereof.

Caed Nua is so boring and meaningless, though. I'm sure Desiderius just thinks it's so deep I saw Adele rolling in it because it's about a father losing his son in literally only the penultimate level.

Who’s Adele?

Something phaggots are into?
Adele is a fat chick you can marry and then divorce 3 years later if you're in dire need of $100M
She hasn't been fat for years. She also hasn't been relevant for years. I just like using that expression because I always find it unreasonably funny. I could've used "so deep it struck oil" instead.

Once fat, always fat.

Is she the one with the flute?

Everybody’s ignorant about something. I choose garbage culture. Money saved on cable/Netflix bill goes toward ER visits to remove tick from son’s leg and the like.

$109 not too bad.
