The orange HUD elements in this ship look pretty dangerous.

Only the most elite pilots should attempt to utilize a HUD this orange.

We used to think the future was blue. How silly of us! Clearly it was always going to be orange.

I'm still toying with whether or not to resell my Vanduul Scythe, Idris-M Corvette, and Super Hornet for $4,000-$5,000 net profit.
My advice, such that it is, is to do just that.

Sell those things before the combat module comes out.

After the initial freaking out by a ton of people you'll probably be able rebuy them for less than you sold them in the current hope and dreams bubble. Capitalize on the dream bubble since the first real breath of reality probably going to pop it.

I think if you're thinking you'd ever sell them you either sell them now or the next time they'll be worth selling is in 2 years or so (this is if you think the game will pick up steam a la WoW).

:what:

I hadn't realized this, but apparently the Idris will no longer be a corvette-class class ship. Instead, it's being upgraded to a frigate-class ship due to the technical needs of the development team—it will be a full hundred meters longer (from 140m to 240m), a 70% increase, and significantly more formidable than the original corvette would have been:

In light of this news, I hereby promote myself from Grand Admiral to Supreme Wreckage Initiator.

I'm not sure I want to sell my wallet wagon now that it enhances my penis 70% more effectively than before.

Seriously though, Frontier done right would be the most awesome thing in history of mankind, and with VR goggles it will be mindblowing. Which one of them will be it, this or the Elite with the shitty byname?
I have a feeling it's going to be Elite. Underdogs are usually better than their big-budget competitors.

Ahahahaha https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13898-Arena-Commander-V8-Delay

Greetings Citizens,
The team has been working around the clock for the past two weeks to polish gameplay and eliminate the bugs that would allow us to release Arena Commander V0.8. Today at 4:00 PM PST, I sat down with Star Citizen’s production leads for a ‘go/no-go’ meeting. We went around the virtual table, like a ground control team preparing to launch a rocket, and the decision was that we are not able to release Arena Commander tomorrow as there are too many blocking and critical issues outstanding.

Below you will find a list of the current bugs being tracked by the team. Game developers classify bugs based on their severity: blockers, critical, major, moderate and minor. The most serious of these, blockers, are bugs that completely prevent the game from working and from being in a releasable state. Unfortunately, as of tonight, there are still two blockers and half a dozen critical issues (which we would like to fix before launch.) Our biggest issue today is a newly developed DirectX crash which breaks the single player Vanduul Swarm mode every backer will be given access to.

It would be foolish to release an unstable build, even if pre-alpha for the sake of meeting an internal deadline. This is the power of the crowdfunding that made Star Citizen possible: a publisher would make us ship tomorrow regardless of the current build quality… but as you are all focused on quality rather than a financial return for shareholders we are able to take a few more days to deliver something that is stable.

I know that’s not the news you wanted to hear tonight. No-one would like to see the community get their hands on Arena Commander more than I would.

This is what can happen with an open development process, especially when we are sharing code and content long before one normally would in traditional development. But I don’t think you would want it any other way! The Star Citizen team feeds off of your incredible enthusiasm and your energy for the project… and we want more than anything to see what happens when you get into space.

In order to keep our backers as informed as possible, I’m asking the production team to provide DAILY updates for the community until Arena Commander V0.8 ships. This will be the raw stuff: lists of bugs and other information to tell you the current health of the build. You will see the same information I do, and you will be able to follow as we resolve each “blocker” preventing the build’s release.

I want you to know that we’re very close… just not close enough to launch tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Yea, that was embarrassing :hmmm:
We're approaching that phase to determine if this thing is a bomb or not. If they dont get on top of Cryengine in the next 3 months, the game will be in trouble.

but, but, it works on strippers!!!

I am hugely disappointed by Chris, so far Elite is superior in every way, besides graphics porn and even there it has its own identity and direction, maybe in time "somebody will fix it" but so far ELITE is doing 10 times better with a budget 10 times lower...

Well, shit does happen but this is embarassing (good sign to never give hard dates, anyway). The whole vaporware-esqe aura about this does get a bit stronger. Heh, if this bombs, Roberts will have to flee to Tora Bora or something.

Well this is because Chris isnt doing Wing Commander as much he is doing Wing Commander Privateer that was very close to Elite and Elite is of course older.

Star Citizen is pretty much Elite, in part I agree since it could go another way but then again, they dont have to but in all fairness they pretty much are the same thing, lets hope it doesnt end up like Privateer II:The Darkening except without BRIAN BLESSED.

I'm seriously regretting I gave money to this game, even if that only was a base Aurora ship. I'm having doubts this game will come out until 2017. Is this possible to sell my Aurora to someone on an smaller price?

Greetings Citizens,

As promised, we are updating each day Arena Commander V.8 is delayed with a copy of the same bug list we track internally. Do not be too concerned that today’s list is longer than what appeared yesterday: it’s not unusual for additional bugs to be generated as we squash more serious issues. The news today is very positive: the programming team eliminated the major DirectX bug that was encountered yesterday and excellent strides are being made to put the game into a releasable state! Thank you for bearing with us; we know you’re here to play (and help us test this game!), and we’re eager to let you. We are anticipating having these issues resolved very soon.

The more money they raise, the longer the game will take to come out.

Regardless of the state of Arena Commander, the developers have handled it admirably and transparently.

  • We were informed well in advance that the DFM wouldn't be ready by its initial date of December 2013.
  • Subsequently, it was made clear that delays should be expected and would continue to occur.
  • CIG have set tentative release dates for the DFM since then, since that's what people want, despite knowing that missing them would lead to backlashes.
  • Having missed the date in this case, they've explained why, have provided a bug list, and are keeping us apprised with frequent updates.

In short, they're being as transparent as possible, like this beautifully scuff-marked Hornet cockpit canopy:

Just look at those scuff marks. Mmmmm.

The game now has 7x its initial budget. It's going to take longer to produce, plain and simple. Wasteland 2 has already been delayed well past its projected dates, inXile are far less transparent about why, and it's a safe bet T:ToN and PoE will follow suit soon enough.
