It's not about graphics or GUIs, it's about the fact that for the last several years the discussion here is dominated in most threads by people who enjoy "discussing" politics rather than games. There were moderators here who at least marginally kept things on topic once. Now its Yeats all day, boys.Imagine short men with beards achieving anything in 2021.
Maybe manboobs.
Fuck dwarves.
You're right, in 2021, only short women with beards can achieve anything.
It's a misconception about the place , there's people who play games, some expert at it ,you can easily identify them in threads , most of them like a good presentation ,to them graphics doesnt matter much . Very few amongst codexers really dont care of graphics at all ,thats less than ten people on the codex.
I was thinking more in the lines of codexers who frequent (and play) the stuff in the obscure rpgs thread. tbh, given the context and limitations of the systems, I don't consider GB games to be ugly. On the contrary, they're quite charming, and if we look at the Amiga ports there's even some pretty kickass monster portraits and whatnot.
Mortmal , go hang yourself, everyone remembers your butthurt in the KotC 2 topic...
About goldbox games, it's not the graphics but mainly the UI that prevents most people from enjoying them.
Also, there's a difference between not caring about mui graphics and not wanting to playing something with a disgusting woke artstyle or ugly 3 colors retro-look-alike-cashgrab.
Way more people than you think don't care about graphics, here on the codex, you just don't know what you're talking about.
"The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity."
I don't want to start a massive tangent on this, it has been discussed to death in other threads, but that said, have you ever thought that in most games there is way more "politics" to discuss in recent years?
A lot of those "politics" are having direct impacts on game quality. Should we no longer discuss the quality of games?
On topic:
Performance issues aside, I've heard that there are quite a lot of bugs in late game content that wasn't covered by the early access. Is that true or an exaggeration?
