Given that Eurogamer gave some of the lowest scores to two of the biggest games this year (TOTK, BG3)

They gave both games 4 out of 5. Is that not acceptable now? Must games get a perfect score or their review codes for future games be taken away? I have no idea about the other site though. Are they a big deal?

Eurogamer's scoring is absolute shit, rather than using 1-10 they're using 1-5 which implies a game that scores 4/5 is 80% good

Looks like Bethesda/MS didn't send codes for many UK/Polish websites. Given that Eurogamer gave some of the lowest scores to two of the biggest games this year (TOTK, BG3) and Edge usually gives lower scores than avg it feels to me like they're trying to keep that Metascore high. Rather dumb thing to do honestly...
Access to the game appears to have been heavily restricted in the UK
I would say It's because of the Activision acquisition or something like that, given that it's not just Eurogamer

Yeah, it's more widespread, but they gave DigitalFoundry a code and explicitly told them not to share access with other Eurogamer employees:

Lastly, a note on Digital Foundry. You should expect to see relatively prompt coverage of the game by Rich and his team after a separate delivery of Starfield code was provided to them. However, this was provided alongside instruction to me by Bethesda that no other parts of Eurogamer were granted access. This was an unprecedented request, but one I ultimately felt compelled to honour to ensure the access granted to Digital Foundry was not subsequently impacted by any other mandate.

Which to me sounds like they wanted the boost from Digital Foundry giving excellent coverage to the game's technical aspects without the potentially lower than avg scores from the main site as well as other UK outlets that tend to be harsher than US websites.

Edge is famous for giving a lot of big games 6/10 or 7/10.

These are still not bad scores, but a lot of companies really want to get into the 95-97 Metacritic territory and a just a handful of 7/10 or 8/10 reviews can bring the score down. It's particularly significant with Eurogamer and Edge since both are weighted above most other websites aggregated by Metacritic and thus a low score from them might have even more impact. It's a dumb thing to lose your mind over but certainly no something Microsoft wouldn't do for such a big launch.

90% of the 1000+ planets in Starfield will have no life, according to Todd Howard

https://www.videogamer.com/news/90-of-1000-planets-starfield-no-life/

Todd howard wants to immerse the players into codexer's life, unbelievable!
Todd left those planets there so that modders can populate them, obviously.

Just in time for the era of AI voice, too.

Bethesda's next step is to release a game with no content, just a bunch of assets.

All memes aside. I am low key glad relieved they did this whole "build a landing site dynamically" system.. If they actually created 1000 barren planets as explorable areas in Creation Engine.. That would be so fucking awful if you really think about it.. Even if it was 90% just a heightmap with a few scattered rocks and formations.. the bloat on your disk would be huge.

As was said before, Creation Engine can not procedurally generate terrain - we knew this years ago in one of the first starfield interviews.

Imagine shipping that much worthless shit onto your hard drive.. gigs and gigs of 'empty barren nothing' planets.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I am very hopeful for this game. I recently decided to play Fallout 76 but I didn't even manage to play it much because since recent patch the game just freezes every time during signing in. No driver or game re-installation helps. They broke the game and rendered it unplayable, at least for my configuration. Makes me trust Starfield will be a solid release.

what a diverse cast of characters! and of course the asian had to be the one with the BIGGEST pair of nerdglasses she found at the store. "wow soooo cool! a bunch of blue overalls with a logo! i am shitting and cumming in excitement!" at some point even the most retarded plebbitor dicksucker should have enough of this "designed by committee, esg score go up" horseshit, right? i am tapping out at the part at around the one minute mark where they slowmo walk with "badass" music in the background while the two mystery meat males brofist each other.

absolutely awful.

Some streamers would get early access at 1. September.
...

I'm not really sure if this is smart, but at least we would see real gameplay.

This game is an investiment on the long run even if the game will be mediocre it will be modded so much that will offer content and fun for decades.
