I find sera face even less feminine than cassandra ,and true i expected her to be lesbian as well.

Oh, I didn't know you were just talking about looks. I thought you meant overall character.

Cassandra is just standard tsundere, pretty lazy writing overall.

"I'm SO cold and mean and angry all the time but secretly I read romance novels and am a total softy!" It wouldn't be so bad except that Bioware cannot into subtlety.

Can you be friends with the gay NPC's now without them wanting to ream your arsehole if your even slightly friendly to them?

As far as I've seen so far, they've done a better job of separating romance and friendship than in DA2. All the romance options are marked with the romance icon and they generally don't initiate on you, that's on you for the most part. Dorian for example pretty much never brings it up. If he didn't have that ridiculous porno mustache I think he'd be in the running for one of the few characters in the game who is inoffensive and likeable.

Well at least that's something.

Yeah, I think the game plays much better if you ignore all the romance options. They're all incredibly badly written to the point I wonder if its intentional. Like, it often feels like the voice actors were just taking the piss on the romance lines. "Romances are poorly written in games" is such a trope on the Codex that I need to emphasize that this is not the usual complaining about unrealistic romances or whatever, this stuff is so cringingly awkward it makes Mass Effect look brilliant. Which it wasn't. You get my gist, I hope.

"Every time I craft an item I find a better one in the field shortly after."

Do you use one handed axes? I do. I crafted one and no one handed axes to be found 'in the field'.

" combat founded on how many healing potions you happened to have,"

You weren't usually dependent on potions in DA1.

"Inquisition achieves no such memorability and charm of companions,"

Overall, both DA2 and DA3 have better companions than DA1.

"instead of learning about them during the course of the adventure ala what you did in the IE games when you weren't able to initiate conversation."

I kinda agree but people whined about the BG2 npcs starting a convo in a middle of a dungeon so this was BIO's response. 'Fans' ruin everything.

"She's your contact with a "terrorist group" that wants to help you"

Are they really a terrorist group? I know they oppose gov'ts but they don't really terrorize anyone (unless it happens later)? They just seem to play games for giggles.

"The sex scenes are hilariously awkward too."

Kiddin' right? Haven't played any in game but the H0T tits and ass iare H0T!

For me it was kinda the opposite. I usually crafted far better shit than the random level appropriate drops. And when I found something better it usually had a schematic for something even more kill on me already.

Well, TBH she introduces herself to you by pranking a bloke's face with an arrow and murderizing his entourage.

The bloke was an evil piece of shit. That doesn't make her a terrorist. Don't abuse words. Now, if she actually does 'terrorist' stuff let me know.

One thing I don't get is the hate for Sera (aside from the graphics), she seems to have the most entertaining dialogue for someone who wanted a humerous playthrough. To solve the whole sex issue I'd probably run as a male tank with Sera, Vivienne and Varric and not bother talking to any other playmates ;)

You didn't like Alastair? Eh, I did. I guess I can understand not liking him, but I'm mostly about dialogue, more than character, and his was mostly pretty good.

I hate Morrigan's character, but I like her dialogue, so. I guess we tend to agree in that way.
I have to admit, the little troll is like a fungus - grows on you with time. I even cattleprodded that political election meeting to put him on the throne towards the end. It did pay off, though; his sex scene with Morrigan was hilarious.

It really depends on dumb luck or what you end up doing when, I'm sure. I found a kick-ass bow at level 12 I am still using. Nothing crafted can compare to it. Same with a hand-axe I found for my tank that has a higher dps than even anything 2-handed I have found.

Who is Sera? Is Sera the girl who steals the pants of the soldiers or some shit?

I just let everyone join my inquisition, cause I don't know, why not? I haven't felt like any my decisions mattered so far.

Sera is one of the game design error. My theory is that some lesbian bioware fan wrote to them she wanted a npc companion more like a "butch" . If you asked them for tactical combat , or deeper stats system they wont answer you cause they have no clue how to do it , but ask them about romances or cosmetics stuff they will be more than happy to oblige.I am not flaming bioware , its just how it is now, their line of work is actionwith light rpg elements and interactive story with romances.

However with that companion they catered to a minority amongst the minority, as not every lesbians wants that kind of companions same, as not every gay is bottom. Plus i think the lesbian romances are usually mostly for straight guys who likes to play female characters in games, we want pretty women they should target the biggest public first . Who there doesnt enjoy some good lesbian porn eh?

Sera is contemporary English bird of suspect intellect. The kind you would avoid like the plague, but now you found here drunk in a dumpster and took her with you just because you can. She makes the "enchatment guy" look like a genius. But the biggest question is the other discussed one, how did she manage to squeeze herself into the game? Don't they have a lead of at least medium intllect who could say "no"?

Cole should never have left the fade sequence, despite his laughable looks, he would have worked well as a non-character that was a guide in the fade.

Make the Codex Great Again! RPG Wokedex Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is. Serpent in the Staglands Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I'm very into cock and ball torture I helped put crap in Monomyth
I instantly hated Sera, but she made me feel bad when I rejected her, so I save scummed that decision. She actually became less intolerable (to me at least) after that bad initial interview. Still intolerable, just less so.

I think she'd be a much more effective character if we got to see some of her alleged friends ... like with Iron Bull, you see him dealing with his mercenary group, so he has a context that makes him believable; Cullen and Cassandra are down training the troops; etc. Sera is supposed to represent the support of the lower classes and vagabonds, but all we see is one abrasive punk kid being a dick. Even in the tavern where she hangs out, she stands off by herself, implying that no one will even sit with her. Hard to blame them.

I just finished the Dorian companion quest.

Although the character arc for Dorian is pretty much a modern day concern with a magic bandaid, which is ridiculous, Dorian is a really strong character. I like him a lot, probably one of Bioware strongest characters for me. Consider me impressed by this (not much else to be impressed by the game... I take any victory I can get)

The Cassandra and varic book subplot... It's ripped straight out of a castle episode, where he discovers the macho hardcore detective loves his cheesy books. Bioware why no original?

One disappointing thing is I haven't found any good end game equipment worth buying. Buying gear is only useful at the start of the game, after that found or crafted stuff is all better than stuff you can afford. They should have some really powerful expensive items that can be bought.

I believe that's a problem with their MMO-like gear system. Now, I haven't played DA:I and won't be playing it for quite a while (it requires a CPU able to handle four threads which my 2-core is not able to do and I'm not upgrading just because botched next-gen console ports are about to steamroll PC gaming Bioware wants me to) - but I've seen a similar problem in DA:O. That one also had an MMO-ish loot & gear system. Some vendors carried incredibly expensive end-game stuff but once you actually reached mid-late game and was able to afford it you found that it was already redundant (or, say, was Tier 5 while you were already at Tier 6 in terms of stuff you regularly found and whatever unique features the item had were just about to become overshadowed by falling behind in basic functionality like DPS/AR).

On a more general note (i.e. not directing this at darkpatriot): this thread should have more discussion on core gameplay mechanics and systems and less writing-related drivel. Look, the 'lol fag buttsex' jokes are stale, "Gayder" jokes are stale. Obsessing over Sera makes you look very much in tune with Bioware core audience. Lol, ugly lesbo elf with mangled English. Get over it. Talk numbers and spreadsheets.
