Who knows, maybe they also want to make the whole of Tamriel in the next game

LOL, no. They will only expand to multiple regions in ESO.

I'm currently playing Skyrim with a bunch of mods, it is amazing in a lot of ways, I might makea thread.

Please don't.

I want to say the general feeling with ESO for the first few years was that the game sucked, (I heard better things about it later anyways)

It was actually better earlier on before they introduced their precious level scaling with 'Tamriel unlimited'. Unlimited as in "now you can go anywhere at low level you dumbfucks".

I've never been a fan of the theory that ESO is why we never got a TESVI. The real reason is likely just that until very recently, Bethesda was just a single studio with less than a hundred developers that could call on Arkane/id Software whenever needed for support. Console generations are only seven years and they put Skyrim out pretty late into the previous generation in November 2011. They'll be very lucky to ship both Starfield and TESVI in a single generation if they're going the photogrammetry route for both.

People like to shit all over TESO but honestly they've handled the series far better than Todd's team has in recent years. I'd love if they got Lawrence back as loremaster, the new guy is good too.

Agreed. There was a solid two year period after they fixed launch issues and implemented One Tamriel overhaul that the game was really good. Not a lot of people got to experience it since it had such a horrible launch where multiplayer mechanics like grouping and quest phasing was broken but if they didn't botch that launch as hard as they did I'm convinced it would've been successful as a subscription title.

The only excuse i can think of, is if they literally deleted the Gamebryo engine and began creating a new engine literally from scratch. This would explain the lack of in-game footage after so many years. There has been some footage from Bethesda studios showing them working on textures and shit for the next Elder Scrolls, so why no sneak peak footage from in-game at all? The only answer would be that the engine wasn't ready to display them.

I think it actually makes sense. Fans have been pestering them for a new engine for decades.... Perhaps now that they got money, they decided to actually make a new engine. Especially now that they have id onboard. id are master engine crafters. I sure hope that's the case, cause that would probably mean the next Bethesda games are going to be Vulkan games.

They can't do Fallout and ES at the same time. So they did Skyrim, then they did Fallout 4, then they did Fallout online, and they fitted ESO in between all that too. ES6 will be up next but had to take a back seat while these other games were done. It will be for the best because ES6 is going to be a big deal. Skyrim set a new bar and they need to not only improve on Skyrim but also keep up with all the others open world games out there now.

This discards years of learned expertise with their in-house engine. They won't do that; they will iterate on the engine.

I certainly can't think of anything Bethesda has ever thrown out in an effort to broaden their appeal.

More like ID gets to update Gamebryo again so we can use ladders this time without a loading screen LOL

I have a gut feeling that the game is taking so long because they want photogrammetry to fully mature by the time the game is out.

I think that also almost certainly means a new engine too. Perhaps even Unreal 5.

The greatest tragedy is them not leveraging Zenimax's assets. They have id Software, Arkane, MachineGames and ZOS right under their noses and Bethesda Games Studios for some reason hasn't commissioned new tech to their specifications or even collaborated with any of them.

That original ESO demo might have been the most miserable gaming experience ever. Made an Oblivion Gate feel like Rattkin Ruins in comparison.

ESO had a really rough start but they put a lot of effort into the relaunch after feedback.
I can't name many games that have a position that exists solely to make sure the lore is handled properly. ESO has become a goldmine for TES lore, easily the best thing that has happened to it after Morrowind.

More "leaks" (99.999% fake) from 4chan.

https://boards.4channel.org/v//thread/529995845/elder-scrolls-6-info

I wondered whether or not to leak this stuff but I'm frustrated with current events at Bethesda,so FUCK IT. E.S.VI was scheduled to release Fall 2021 but a major part of the world, like 25% of the game, is being reworked, so its delayed indefinitely
Game takes place across two major provinces:

Elseweyr - A lot of jungles and tribes/meadows/plains/plantations. A lot of Khajiit. New race of Blue and purple bird-like beings
High Rock - Big ass mountains, lots of forested zones, huge bay of water with pirate ship activities.

Can get elected to run certain settlements

Active combat just like Skyrim but less clunky, more weapon options, shit ton of extra items like bombs, crossbows, throwing knives, caltrops, throwable poisons, various traps (only Khajiit and Argonians can create), tameable pets that attack for you (or summons for races that can summon)

Skill leveling is back but each race has their own skill "tree" now. You cant learn everything on one character and become a god anymore.Standard player level as well. So you can't become an Orsimer mage for example. Your race is basically your class. This might upset some, but there's a huge amount of overlap. Three or four races have access to heavy weapons and skills, three or four have access to all the magic stuff, etc

Story: Something called the "Shaper" that shifts people's destinies and all of Nirn itself (the planet), for good or worse, is suddenly wreaking havoc after decades of peace. It's linked the two provinces with giant portals which is why player can play two provinces in one game lore-wise. You have to figure out why the shaper is suddenly going apeshit and causing chaos, and stop it. Spoiler: It has decided Nirn is too evil to keep existing and is going to make a new planet out of our ashes. So TLDR player must stop a god that's gone beserk. Very generic I know...But you destroy it with a literal elder scroll item that prophecised it's death or some BS and a council of peaceful Aedra takes its place

I'm pissed off because I'm on a "strike team" task force of the best from each department, we have been working tirelessly for past couple of months to get a trailer ready in time for next gen console releases this November

Just yesterday our boss' boss (not Todd), decided to delay to cancel the trailer entirely...From what I understood, they want to get rid of the perception Bethesda has for releasing a single jpeg or simple trailer and then going radio silent forever (cough starfield)

and want to put out a newer trailer closer to release (you'll probably be seeing it late 2021 and game release target is 2022 like I mentioned)

Game will have standard 4k 60fps on Ps5 and Xbox consoles (yes a PS5 launch is still in works, Bethesda isn't just gonna say no to free money), and less fidelity on previous gen consoles (ps4 xbox one) along with a dual option of either boosting the FPS at cost of fidelity, or boosting graphical fidelity and lowering FPS

Will be a cool companion mobile app to manage inventory and see your character, and read some lore. Hope to god there's no monetization, I'm embarassed to still be associated with ES Blades

Skill system sounds too decent to actually be a Bethesda product.

Yes. I will be surprised if they have more than 4 or 5 skills in TES VI. There is no reason to believe that anything from that made up nonsense leak is true, apart from them probably also bringing it on the Peasant Station 5 because of free shekels.

High Rock and Elseweyr? But those two are literally miles away with Hammerfell, Cyrodill and Valenwood in between.

They never release much until right before release. Do you not remember Skyrim's development?

They're also definitely using Gamebryo. First, because they said they will. Second, they have whole toolsets and people trained to use them that can't be plugged into another engine. Third, because they advertised for a bunch engineers a few years back to work on their engine. Fourth, because Gamebryo does some things well, like having a player move in any direction in a huge open world map and never encountering loading screen

I mean I guess there could be like, teleportation circles or something.

That's what the "leak" proposes, some rift portal thing.

Pretty arbitrary combination of a land people want to see and, a land most people don't really care that much about (Elsewyr and High Rock).

I mean you can do this with any engine, it's something you usually program in yourself. The main reasons for why they keep and will keep using gamebryo is, as you said, the people and tools, but also the fact that making a new engine is a massive undertaking for which you usually need a dedicated team of specialists and will take forever.
