Go with DOM, you won't regret it, there isn't too much of a difference between Hard and Normal.
The devs were perfectly aware, and still are that the majority of the gamers won't be able to easily tackle the game. The way it's meant to be played means giving the player extra stats should tell you something :). Regardless, you sounds like you'd enjoy your DOMINATING ODDITY.
Dominating it is, then. Still expect to restart a few times.

One of the cool things about Dominating is that you get to enter GMS early. The rathounds near the entrance are strong enough to kill the SGS guard if you manage to get them to fight. Only on Dominating the Rathound Alphas spawn in this area. And he usually carries a Jackrabbit SMG. This is a good way to get an advanced weapon early, and a tactical vest for good measure.

I don't think you can enter early even if the guard dies. there's a small gate right behind him that doesn't get unlocked even if he dies

You can, i did several times. When he dies there is a little hand icon on the fence that lets you push it aside.

Just... experiment with it. Crafting is useful for everything, although playing without it is possible.

John Wick build would probably do it without crafting... just pick a gun from a dead enemy and shoot till there's nothing left in the mag, then repeat.

Yep, you get to do everything there, except delivering the keycard to Gorsky. But you can free the hostages and pretty much loot anything. Gorsky will also comment about you being there early and tells you to snoop somewhere else.

I'm still on my first TC build, and applying advanced strategies already. Some Sun Tzu shit: premeditate, open door, cast on psi bug. Big brain time.

Just wait 'till you descend to greater depths of power. Premeditation > Locus of Control > Enrage/Bilocation will bring entire groups to their knees.

Can't wait to try that out at the Gray Army Base

So I started over a few times. But this afternoon, made it through Depot A surprisingly okay.

I ended up rerolling the basic Tin Can build -- AR, metal armor, grenades. I just facetank everything. At level 8 with Full Auto and a muzzle-braked assault rifle, I was burning those acid-spitting muties in one burst. Fuckers. Also lol @ little green dogs biting my ankles. A few grenades here and there, effective use of doorways, and I made it through without having to reload once. Not bad.

Looking forward to getting access to an energy shield, and seeing how that changes things.

Colossal brain shit: use Premeditation to actually premeditate rather than activating it at the last moment, meaning you almost let it run out then cast so the next Premeditation is just 2 turns away instead of 5

Congrats! You just popped your underrail cherry beating Depot A. Now go die a few times to some invisible TC Lunatic.

Chimera builds really maximize the fun factor of using ARs, far less worrying about ammo or reliability especially with the recent random change to repar kit weight, after experiencing it I honestly can't go back.

Chemistry and to some extent Biology are the only crafting skills actually useful. Electronics is overrated, you can make some useful things like a Taser but nothing that makes a significant difference towards beating the game. Shields are already cheat mode, no need for a crafted one. Same with Psi, if you have Psi you are already cheat mode, so why do you care about a crafted Psi band? Constantine sells you weapons good enough to beat the game easily, and only about 15% worse than the best crafted stuff. And Tailoring is a joke, just get Tabis from Constantine. The game is beatable with a lvl 6 character on DOMINATING, so yes, crafting is for LARPers (i.e. Mad Scientist!) and autism.

To be honest i never really crafted an "end game shield". I usually keep the same shield i loot from some guard at Junkyard jail for the rest of the game. Not getting hit >>> worrying about shield soaking damage. Speaking of not getting hit: having fun with bilocation. A nice combo: Mental Subversion + Premeditate + Bilocation + Frighten + Throwing Net = Baddies getting gangbanged by ethereal black dudes.

One the plus side the industrial bot killed the three death stalkers in the abandoned warehouse. On the negative side there is an industrial bot in the abandoned warehouse.
