Those cutscenes are terrible. Not just the style, but (1) the quality within said style and (2) the choice of that style for this setting. Completely and utterly baffling. Looks like some cheap anime knock-off of a popular video game brand you'd catch direct-to-video in the 90s

watching the trailer it is sad that game looks pretty much like Pathfinder.

Asset reuse is why we can have these sprawling RPGs within such a niche market to begin with. I don't mind that at all. Would be incredibly retarded to build the entire thing from scratch considering what that would mean for cutbacks in other places.

That's exactly why it's baffling that the resources they did build - the cutscenes - are so awful.

That's funny, seem to recall 300 pages of the BG3 thread where these posters were crying DOS:3 for this exact reason. Of course different rules apply to Pathfags.

wat

how am I a pathfag

I have encouraged asset reuse as one of my pet peeves since BG2 - including being vocally supportive of Larian's asset reuse for BG3

Not you, hence "these posters".

So how easy is it to get into this? I am actually serious when I say that I know nothing about Warhammer. I only know that the boys from Blizzard copied it when they made WarCraft because they couldn't get the license.

And what about the mechanics? Are they obtuse, or easy to get a hold of?

I feel this time around, the tutorial will be a key component for me. lol

Since we don't know what system they will be using it's hard to say.

https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Rogue_Trader_(RPG)
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Wrath_&_Glory

It'd be the FFG Rogue Trader rules. There's a tweet someone posted about it using D100 TTRPG rules.

Plus they mention Koronus Expanse as the setting, which is the default setting for the FFG Rogue Trader.

As for getting into it - just get the rulebook (on RPG Drivethru or the high seas). In terms of systems, Rogue Trader is the most complex game of the FFG line (Dark Heresy, Death Watch, Only War, Dark Crusade), mostly because it involves the ship related stuff and much higher levels of abstraction (the characters are very high level people from the get go, depending on the ship and background they command up to several tens of thousands of people and get involved in very complex stuff depending on their class).

The background section in the rulebook along along with the section for character backgrounds will tell you all you need to know.

When there's nothing to be butthurt about, Codexers will make something to be butthurt about.

What are you crying about? Didn't you make it clear five times already how much you revel in "butthurt" (read: not automatically gobbling up everything served).

Yeah, I guess your schtick was too retarded to generate any joy. Get on another level, newfag.

I just find certain criticisms to be so dumb, I have to flame them. Like when a person can't figure out how asset reuse the way that Owlcats has been isn't the same as asset reuse the way that Bioware did in Dragon Age 2. That's going full retard, no matter what your other positions are.

Yeah, yeah. There is so much blatant hypocrisy going on here.

When BG3 was announced there were immediate backlash from many of the same posters who rave about this game here about exactly the same things.

"Larian re-use assets it looks like DOS:3". For Owlcat "They are being smart with their resources".
"The graphics are too cartoony/too much color for Baldur's Gate". For Owlcat "wElL iN tHe 70s Warhammer uSeD aLoT oF cOlOR, nevermind the cartoony style"
"Shadowheart looks like a tranny". For Owlcat "Paizo forced them, look at Regill! Regill!!!".

And you can bet your ass even more of this type of handwaving shit will emerge as it becomes increasingly obvious the wokefiesta has been implemented. Imagine going from WotR and thinking it won't be there because of some pre-alpha trailer.

If you are going to bitch about these things in another game, apply that principle equally.

It's simple, really. I care precious little for Pathfinder and Warhammer 40k, so when Owlcat reuses assets from the former to develop the latter, my apathy knows no bounds. Whereas when Larian desecrates the BG series by grafting bits and pieces of gaudy, rotten flesh from its subpar house IP upon a stillborn cash cow wantonly dubbed 'Baldur's Gate 3', I am grossed out.

In many threads. But not from me, and I've made fun of people in the BG3 thread too. Anyway, sorry your favourite game is whatever. Whine less or at least more entertainingly.

And that's another thing retards like you fail to grasp, you seem to always think there are two camps. Pointing out hypocrisy does not equal the other game being your favorite game. I'm lukewarm on BG3 simply because its a cRPG. I have more respect for guys like Fedora who at least is capable of being consistent in his opinions of games, irrespective of what those opinions are. Guys like you are such pussies and will bend backwards to your own bias.

c) will only appeal to autistic buildfags

for buildporn there are far better games such as (...), Wizardry 8, (...), NwN, even Dark Sun
:hahyou:

Cool story, bro.

My absolute favourite moments on the Codex are when newfags try to emulate oldfag edgy monocledness by hating all "decline popamole" but can't help but let their youth shine through by recommending absolute trash tier "dark ages of rpgs" shit like NWN lol

caught between the first RPG love they had back when they were 11 years old and their urge to be part of the kool kids krowd

My favourite thing in the world is when newfags try to emulate oldfag edgy monocledness by hating all "decline" but can't help but let their youth shine through by recommending absolute trash tier "dark ages of rpgs" shit like NWN lol

Please don't trash NWN. Spent like 5 years on a cool PW server. Also played a couple mods. And HotU was a fun power romp.
It may not be the GOAT but was important for me. More then BG2 for example.

...still Owlcat Pathfinder's build porn and combat is in another league.

lmao at codex boomers unironically thinking BG is the thing attracting people to the game and not Larian's name.
D&D IPs are completely worthless with regards to video games, they ran it through the mud for two decades

Didn't care for Pathfinder Kingmaker at all and obviously skipped on Wrath. I'm praying (to the Emperor) that this will finally be a playable cRPG by Owlcat since I actually care about the setting. Being a Turn Based game is already a good and hopeful sign for me.

Based on number of posts and reactions codex is burning. Can't wait for drama once Warhammer CEO realize he doesn't want to finance expensive crpg.
