Speech Chads can just convince the AI to let them go.

IIRC if you read the scattered notes carefully you can impersonate his creator w/o speech skill.

There's also brute force way in a proper sense.

Wow, this thread lives again! I'll get back to you with replies as soon as I can! For now

Out of curiosity, are there any clues as to how to power down the AI in the Dead City bunker? I just brute forced the combination. Or do they expect you to know how to read binary?

It's 0010 for anyone wondering
If I remember correctly this does not require reading binary, it's a logic puzzle using binary for aesthetics. I might be misremembering because I wrote it years ago, but I'm pretty sure.
Omfg there's a skill tree and I only just now noticed I feel so fucking stupid
Yes that's probably why the guns didn't do well for you. Usually we get negative reviews stating melee is impossible to play with, not the other way around. Though in truth, it's really based on the person playing. We get (((WEAPON TYPE))) is superior to (((OTHER WEAPON TYPE))) all the time, but really I don't think there's much of a difference. The crafted weapons are a bit more powerful than the rest, but even that's probably not too objective.

Got my first proper firearm a while back, a rusty Nagant M1895. The game calls the ammunition for this ".30" which maybe is technically true (7.62mm == 0.3 inches) but confusing because the ammunition for this gun in real life is called usually called 7.62 "Nagant". Anyone know why this might be? Is this ammunition called ".30" in Warsaw Pact countries?
Pretty sure we don't call it that, I just like how .30 had a dot before the number, we had too many Number.Number x Number type calibres that got some folks confused.
Just finished this game, what an absolute blast it was. How's Trudogard? I read they're still updating it, is that right? If that's the case I'll wait for the complete edition.
Still a little DLC with content to come, but basically the game is done atm!

Playing this game now. First time. Really enjoying it.
Thank you!
The jeweler quest was... interesting. How much did the Codex pay to get this integrated into the game?
The codex paid with kind words, meaningful conversations and funny humor through the years!

In hindsight, had I known that guns require a lot more effort to get going early on and that later you get most good gear from merchants instead of loot, I might've stuck with it. That has nothing to do with the skill tree. I expected usable guns more or less from the get go much like in Fallout and having to punch and stab rats to death in Bunker 317 left a bad impression on the whole idea of a gun build. The good early game guns are indeed the ones you craft yourself, you just have to scratch together the resources and recipes and I wasn't aware of that. I had just kinda assumed that crafting was useless, like it is in most other RPGs. I went into the game completely blind mind you. I wouldn't say that's like a game design issue, it has more to do with metagaming and being willing to engage with the crafting system. Then again, cRPGs are best when metagamed imo.

But melee continues to work really well. With a bulletproof vest and a shield my guy can withstand basically anything but heavily concentrated burst fire. The sabre continues to do good damage and Mauser burst fire kills fast as well. Just killed the Death Gang people without much trouble, though I had to reload from the Dima encounter because every single one of his guys spawned with an automatic weapon. So don't worry Atomboy, you guys did well enough with the weapon balance.

(((WEAPON TYPE))) is superior to (((OTHER WEAPON TYPE)))

But why are the weapons jewish???

Did anyone go for the evil edgelord playthrough where you join the death gang? How was it?

In my opinion, people are just looking too much at the skill tree... because their mind is still stuck in Fallout perks.
This is why people are limiting themselves to certain guns due to their builds. (If I take Automatic, I must stick with assault rifles, If I take rifles, I must use hunting rifles)

TBH, your skill tree is horrid and very hard to cherry-pick compared to Fallout. But after playing your game a long time, I have to say the melee perk is clearly useful and underrated.
+ 10 Melee & Unarmed is something you will use in the early games because guns are unreliable and ammo is scarce
+ Used AP goes into Dodge is also good for defensive purposes. Even at ranged combat, you minimize crit chance against you by increasing Dodge when you backpedal after firing a sniper shot.
+ 1st hit in melee is a crit is fine, it swings fight easily your way in the early game.
+ 10% crit melee chance is pretty bad but you want the Quick Reaction investment

The above are 4 perks you take before you unlock the 5th one:
Quick Reaction
The extra Half turn perk is universally useful. And is a nice payoff for sticking with that perk line.

Anyway, the reason why I like the melee talents is the smooth progression of usage throughout the early game till the end.
People, don't limit yourself to just one type of weapon.
Makarov is usable at Pistol 65 with high DEX and ATT just do the Aimed shot on the chest.
AK74 an AUTOMATIC weapon is still capable of being single fired for an aimed shot, leading to efficient damage compared to burst.

Juggle the ammo use. Pick 2 types of guns. You have enough skill points to spread. If you're fighting trash, you can always pull out the knife.

Other notable talents:
Witcher: Double dmg vs Animal works with any weapon. Worth a pick if you want to save bullets against tough mutants
Armor of God & Shieldbearer: Just make yourself tankier and less vulnerable to bullshit crits.

Decided to play this again, haven't played it basically since near launch. Forgot how good this game runs(performance, loading times, etc.,) compared to basically every other Unity cRPG. Good job to your team Atomboy for doing something basically nobody else could.
Isometric mode is great.

Also, some translation is still rough

There are no Burst Firing Weapons skill.
It should be 'Automatic Firearms'

Alternately, a good perk build Survival:

Finally you can use those guns without risking a wasted turn.

If you head to the Krasno sewers in the early game you can pick up an old rusty LMG for less than 1500 rubles.
Now, this is an early game power spike. It can spit 7 bullets per burst fire. And 11 if you go full auto.
If you have ammo to burn, this is a fun option.

This perk also enables crafted pistols to be more competitive, finally add the damage perk and you're set.

Also if you like Arcanum trash can digging, this game has that as well. Good money with crafted weapons using the 100% Crafting success perk.

Atomboy just want to check, does this distinction dmg bonus work with Mutants?

And it's a wrap. A nice little game by a nice little studio, 7/10. Top tier source of forum avatars. Contains lots of pretty, if extremely slavic looking women, what with their big eyes and square heads. May replay in the future with a plain old gun/speech build, but now I'm off to Turbograd.

Honestly, really enjoying it so far. It's a joy to play, and the interactions with people, all of it, it just has a distinctive Soviet feel. Yeah I know the devs are from Ukraine, and ethnic Slavs (Russ or Ukrainian) but overall it is an entirely unique experience in terms of the game feel.

Great work guys.

Think the last time I played this was during early access, can't remember why I didn't play it again after release, might have been too soon for my liking.

I like all the colorful NPCs. I know many of them probably aren't plot relevant, but I talk to all of them anyways. I like going back to town and seeing NPCs I didn't see before, NPCs with new stuff, etc., Feels very alive.
I saw a postman the last time I entered town and I just followed him around. Not really sure why. He had dialogue for like half the town that most people probably skipped I guess.
:M
Plenty of them seem to be specific to certain times of the day/day of the week, and considering the game probably something involving the mayan calendar too.
oh and the random encounters are pretty good, really like the skinworm one, I spent a bit of time trying to figure it out until I realized what was going on.
tbh half the game feels like it's a question as to any of it's happening or if your PC is getting really high and hallucinating it

anyways, great game(so far), runs great with near instant load times so you guys should get some kind of international prize for that considering it's unity

Big fan of the orthographic mode btw, I find it way easier to play without having to fight with the camera, at worst I just Q or E once or twice for what I need. The game also feels more readable this way.

That one really does have an impact.
I hope you killed them all.
It does?

I let them all live because I really didn't care at all and if everyone's telling something different then it's anyone's guess who's telling the truth. I did suspect that letting them live was the wrong choice and would later result in a quirky encounter with the skinworm, Stillwater giant style, but that never happened and I never saw any of those retards again

Eh I meant impact to player as in I thought that was pretty cool.
If everyone is getting something something different so when I told then they're all nuts they told me to run while I still can. I took that pretty personally and beat them to death.

I assumed that either all three were infected, or two were infected and were trying to use me to find the human. I just killed all three to be safe.

The lack of combined attribute-check is a bit disappointing, you get rewarded a lot more for having one high attributes than being good at two.

You can tell by their reactions who's infected when you say that all of them contradict each other
bodyguard is pissed because he asked you for help, while the guide and merchant start acting completely differently, without any emotions.

BTW, I'd say most(60-70%) of NPCs have some hidden attribute check that the game doesn't tell you about either explicitly or implicitly(before or after the fact.) If an NPC dismisses you in some way, there's probably an attribute or skill check you missed behind the scenes.
