The thing I laugh my ass off is Larian claiming they didnt want the ole "buy gifts until fuck bar is filled" system as too gamey and then replaced it with "fuck bar is filled all the time".

So if you work for Thorm, bring him the nightsong(which means shadowheart leaves your party) and bring his daughter to him(alive or dead), he will talk to you a lot, including the monologue they show in the trailer. He will still fight you so it does't really matter much storywise but it lets you know the character much better.

I seriously question Larian's deisgner's sanity. Why the fuck would you hide all those stuff behind a route barely anyone would take? Even if you are playing a evil character, the most obvious choice would be letting shadowheart kill nightsong.

You hired JK simmons, recorded bunch of dialogues and go extra way to make sure people don't hear those lines?

Doing something cool that only 5% of the players will see is incline, based, redpilled, good, and I like it.

This just in from RPG Codex: non-linearity is bad.
It's still linerary, it's not a different route, it didn't affect the story(other than losing shadowheart as a compaion), the nightsong still treats you as an "ally", even you have killled the love of her life. All the difference is you get one scene where Thorm talks to you about his past.

And it should be a scene made for every route because it makes the character much better. Thorm barely has any content already, and cutting more from him is just dumb.

Akshually, letting her get back to the light while screwing over that general seems to be the most obvious choice.

So how do patches for these games work?

Do you restart a 100h game after a major patch?
Do you patch it and continue, just accepting that your experience will be in some weird state between two versions of the game?

Is it just me or does this constant patching seem completely retarded?

You can opt out of the patch, if you are bothered.
The patching we've seen so far has been mostly bug fixes and script trigger changes. It won't influence your saved game, other than if you are using mods that might need to be updated as well.

Other than that, you are complaining about something that hasn't happened, because complaining is fashionable. This is more annoying and retarded and frequent patches, for sure.

I'm desperately hoping that Larian is going to nerf as many things into the ground as possible

Not because I think it's necessarily the best thing to do, but because I want to see all the redditors seething with rage when their favourite cheese strategy gets wrecked

Eh but it's Larian so it'll probably just be 300 new variants of cheese wheels

Uninstalled after Act 2, in which I already mostly alt-tabbed during the fights.
It's not a bad game - Act 1 really drew me in, but I got fatigued quickly in Act 2, especially that more issues started coming to the surface.
Of course I'm lying to myself, that I will eventually pick it up some day and finish the last part when they release the definitive edition patch or whatnot.
