+ One Tormented Soul (+2 STR, +2 DEX) + Fire Essence (Fire Damage) + Sextant (+2 PER)

Hm, I only got +1 STR/DEX and +1 PER bonuses from my Tormented Soul and Sextant respectively. I wonder what that depends on. How high is your Crafting skill?

level scaling. the higher item level is, the better the bonuses.
that's why I said to hoard rubies and leave them until you can get at least lvl 15 items so they will add +20% to all resists instead of 5-15%.

Yeah, just tried on several weapons, and it seems the cut-off is at level 14. All lesser weapons get +1, higher +2. Wondering if it scales more at higher levels...

Crafting is at 5 btw.

This is my thanksgiving text from Steam forum, and it is how i feel about that game:

"I almost cried tears of happines as a gamer after some time with this game ;)
Been playing crpg from early 90's late 80's, Ishar, Ultima, Baldur's , Nwn, Torment, Gothic, Elder Scrolls, M&M , Arkania, Anvil, Eye of the Beholder, Lands of Lore, Arcanum, Darklands, Bard's Tale,Betrayal at Krondor and many more others for all this years and Your game is a FIRST game of GOLDEN DAWN of classical cRPGs and best cRPGs ever.

Upcoming year (2014/2015) we will have Witcher 3, Pillars of Eternity, Wasteland 2 , Numenora.
But you are the FIRST, First game in no less than 10 ,maybe 15 years which brings life to crpg again (not to mention wonderfully moded Skyrim) .
You gave us hope that real crpgs are still alive and can be great success even if aimed at more demanding gamers.
Your game is PERFECT (and when im thinking of editor it will contain , it will be all time classic for sure) CRPG.
It is like a dream for any crpg gamer who loves Ultima series, Gothics, ES, Might&Magic, full of attention to smallest details, breathtaking world, great story, awesome audio-video
( GOD , Your soundtrack could compete with masterpiece from Kai Rosenkratz from G3 or previous, it is at same level like Jeremy Soule compositions too), genius mechanic, great UI,really good crafting (just wow ), loads of humour, really interactive world (putt off fire with water, put old vase on pressure plate, gigantic maps full of content, weather, electrify enemies who stands on water tile with shock arrow, move things with telecinetic spells, search for treasures with shovel, make traps, cook, possibilites are numerous) and no level scaling , great story full of twists, loads of texts, options to choose, rich dialogue lines, no magic compass, and NO MORE self resolving quests for monkeys with one-two line of dialogue!

Divinity 2 was already good crpg, but with Divinity : Original Sin you made your way to halls of eternal fame in hearts of all tru crpgs out here.
With this title Larian enters Sacred Grounds and takes seat between, Bioware, Black Isle, Interplay, Troika , Beth, 3DO, Piranha, Dynamic, Origin, SSI, Microprose, DreamForge or NWC .

And wonderfull idea of Co-Op ! It takes breath away, it is like our own session in Ultima , but no, Your game is LOT better than Ultima!
I hope you will make this game , just start of beloved series!

Now time to sink again in your game , while wife sleeps ;)

THANK YOU , THANK YOU, THANK YOU ! ! ! "

There was no game like that in years. And this game is better than BG1 & 2 and Ultima , in terms of mechanics, UI, abilities, have similar great storywriting (less epic at first... but...), modding, deep gameplay.
I love Ultima and all FR universe games but to be true Larian make their game one point better, but it is really important while we are disscussing games which are already TOP of the genre?
There are only details , they are all wonderfull.
When im playing this i feel like best people from Troika , Black Isle, Piranha , Bethesda, 3DO and SSI make a one family and with support of fanatic hardcore crpg fans made this game ;) .
It will make your jaw drop, for real, im playing 3/4 nights already for about 10 hours everyday and im barely uncover 50% of first map in the game (map , not quests ). Not to mention i barely scratch the surface of crafting system, cooking and many others (it really makes head hurts ;) )
It is also one of these games in which , where you end playing and go away for a whole day you will remmeber story and characters very well when you are back, truly great.
So go buy it.
It is game that you don't have to read reviews in press or internet, just answer yourself do you like crpg? If yes you will love this game for years

Played chapter 1 twice already. Decided I want to start a bro-op run before I finished my SP one.

Well that may also because I couldn't beat braccus with my SP party.

I think you can overwrite damage that was on a weapon if you add tenebrum to it too.

Just crafted some tenebrum on it (need it for Blood Stone on far north of Lucille forest!*), and it overwrote only the fire damage for which I used fire essence before.

*which by itself was bad, as I healed it as well as hurt it. Added tenebrum to some non magical bow rather, and voila.

I'm wanting to do the opposite. Finish with SP party and then run a co-op with someone who is interested in doing a double Lone Wolf run.

What's the barest minimum crafting needed to make elemental arrows?

2 for the simple arrows, 3 for explosive or poison/static cloud. Charm arrows need the highest with a skill of 4.

edit: speaking of charm arrows, I noticed a bug: the description says they don't deal any damage, but they do in fact, which really limits their effectiveness. If your archer deals a good amount of damage it can mean a charmed archer/mage only has about half their health left after you've hit them with it.

After 127 hours, of which about 60 (?) were in EA, it's complete. Finally.
But I cannot rest yet for there are more CHEEVOS to get.

But what's so good about the Dark Eye IP that it worth a shot? Granted, I only saw Blacguards from that world, and while the game is great, the world is nothing special. Not typical high fantasy, but still average, with no interesting characters, places or lore.
TDE is generic, because it was conceived when the original company that made the setting wanted to license D&D to publish a German translation and found the fees too high. So they made their own "D&D".

I think Daedalic is the first video game company that didn't go bankrupt after touching the TDE license. It's usually not a good idea.

Larian got already burned by the license once, so who knows.

Original Sin looks like an open world, but it's not. The path is fixed, levelling slow, enemies don't respawn to help grind past problems, and a small level difference makes a huge difference.

Finally a great bow.

Seems that Essences "overwrite" damage from other essences, but not what was already on weapon (that Water dmg for instance).

Knew I should've gone for crafting. Was too busy trying to increase the other aspects that I neglected this altogether. Oh well, something to look forward to in the second run. Wayfarer and Enchanter, I think; Battlemage has been a waste.

Jahan should have 'scientist' (+1 to blacksmith/crafting), which means that you can bring them to 2/2 with 2 points (it counts as bonus points so it doesn't cost more to improve them than if you had 0), and from then on you just need a couple of items with +1blacksmith/crafting to do things.

It's basically a almost-free thing.

yeah you drag stuff onto each other. I can give you a recipe as an example:

Drag water(in a mug or in a bottle doesn't matter) onto a bag of flour,

then drag an apple onto that newly created dough,

Drag your pie dough onto a mobile kitchen, and there you go!

Enjoy your apple pie

Well, to a modern gamer the paths may seems quite fixed. People are not used to being able to bypass obstacles. And frankly, quite often the trouble isn't worth it...

I mean, I nearly managed to defeat a certain bony fellow with his entourage while being two levels lower... But that wasn't much fun (or feasible without abusing enemy AI's reluctance to walk through fire).

Well, the game does require from player to read and remember stuff. Needs you to think sometimes. Its not really something you can play for 3 hours and continue next week for 3 hours etc.
Not really typical follow-the-quest-arrow combat fare altho its an ARPG at its core. Turn-based tho. Was thinking, if the game was real time it would take like 2 hours max to clear the area around Cyseal.

But all those "annoyances" people have like missing quest compass, game not being a walkover, puzzles etc are all design decisions that fit well and add to the game and it would be a shame to downgrade it cause some lazy fuck feels that he's entitled to a "you winnnered" screen without putting any effort into the game whatsoever.

So if game is linear then why i didn't kill Bracus yet ? I am in snow land now and i can't give a fuck about that dude nor i need to kill him really.
Or how i was able to deal with those orcs ?

Game is completely open. It needs only balls of steel to go somewhere with lvl5+ above you enemies.

It feels like this game has the opposite of the traditional RPG power curve: mages start out the strongest, but it's actually 2-handed warriors who deal insane amount of damage by the end game, with mages relegated to elemental manipulations and (de)buffs, mostly (which is still extremely useful, of course). My 19 STR 2-handed Cleric's Flurry is a thing to behold.

In light of that, an all-magic playthrough might actually be more challenging than an all-melee one.
