>playing Larian games for their writing

Why would you play a Larian game at all then? DOS is their only game that has decent combat mechanics ,but that's all it has and i don't think it's enough to call it a good game.

Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity felt like the retarded brothers of Diablo in terms of gameplay ,but both of them had some decent quests and at times they were genuinely funny.

Divinity 2+exp ,another lackluster game when it comes to gameplay, but again it had some nice quests here and there.

Dragon Commander -horrible story, writing and gameplay,i don't know what the fuck went through their mind when they created this abomination.

I think Larian should stop using those silly themes and start creating a more serious game because i find them pretty lackluster in the comedy department.

Serious like PoE? or Mass Effect? No thanks.
Whether we like it or not Larian have their own style. I'd rather see them improve in that style than serve us the same stuff other companies are doing.
Fuck their style, all of their games are a chore to finish because of this damn style, they are not funny and it's time to open their fucking eyes already.

It sure is shame there were ever only two serious settings in video games before.

Are you actually dumb enough not to realise these were just exemples and not a full list?
And yet you elected those "just examples" to represent the entirety of "serious". However and thanks to your clarification we can safely assume the point you made wasn't actually misinformed, only stupid as fuck.

Aw, AlphaChar isn't one of Lesi's bootlickers, but she is twitter pals with twitter pals of hers and follows some other amusing accounts. :)

Never look into developers Twitter accounts. Everyone is a retard on Twitter. It's some ineffable law of physics or something.

(And yes, I know you delight in such frivolity, but everyone else should follow this rule of thumb.)

We will see if this results in anything good. I remain 'optimistically skeptical'.

Deck 13, apart from making underrated Venetica and co-developing Lords of the Fallen (which is supposedly decent) has also created the true gem of Blood Knights, which I played last year to see if its metascore of 43/100 is deserved (it is).

Focus Home Interactive released some cool games (Wargame series, Styx: Master of Shadows, Blood Bowl) but is also responsible for such masterpieces as Game of Thrones: Genesis, Mars: War Logs or Cities XL series, so their quality control is somewhat questionable.

Larian working with a publisher again raises a few questions too, especially as it was Focus that rushed Divinity II back in the day, causing Swen a lot of grief and hair loss my bad, it was DTP.

I heard Game of thrones Genesis(the strat game, not the rpg) is good-ish, is that not so?

I thought it was the other way around. The strategy is (supposedly - did not play it myself) really bad while the RPG has some redeeming qualities - mostly in writing/story (I played it a bit, but never finished, the gameplay is).

Both are eclipsed in popularity (and by popular vote, in quality) by Telltale's cinematic choose-not-really-your-own-but-slightly-different-adventure game.

IIRC, DTP was the publisher that rushed D2. Focus published the definitive DKS edition.

Of course. But being good is not an essential requirement for RPG Codex GOTY.
