EDIT: Also, some of the Codex easter eggs are p. jarring. Just had the "incline" joke. Cute for us, but batshit-out-the-blue-bullshit for most people I'd guess. And it seemed unpolished as well. Had two dialogue options, both were "It would be an incline."
are they even in the regular game? i only got the mysterious bottle with the letter once i input the codex code. wasn't there before, which led me to believe you only get ingame stuff from your kickstarter code, not the stuff of other people.

By the way: has anyone invested 1 point in Marksman with their front line char? I'm thinking of doing that on my next level-up. That way I could use Tactical Retreat to also teleport around the battlefield! That sounds really useful - or am I wrong in that?

I use Tactical "Retreat" for my rogue. Super useful in some fights to eliminate mages or pass harmful terrain. ( saved ice kings battle)

I didn't input anything but I still have a bunch of codexian imps running around my place. But the Codex is just named something like "mysterious grimoire".

Wow, what an asshole. I'm glad I've been no-lifing to play this game the past week, since douchebags can't be bothered to use spoiler tags and are just gonna say "hurr durr it's your fault for using the internet".
Yes, it is your own fault if you spoil yourself by using the internet and walking into hot topic about new gaem and then getting offended that you learned something you did not know. I will talk about whatever I want wherever I want, I don't care for spoilers myself (I can read the whole story of the game and then still enjoy it for what it is), and I do not believe I spoiled anything to anyone by praising purely mechanical aspects of how narrative works or noting something about the plot that you learn in 1st city in first hour of the game. And I am defenitely not creating separate thread for some minor post, that's admins job if they are so inclined. IRL if two of your friends are talking about something very interesting that you don't know, do you rush onto them and tell them to shut up or go to their own corner?

And that's the last time when I talk about spoiler-issue and netiquitte-faggotry in general here.

I recently had a small talk with guy and written something like "I heard there are 4 huge maps in Div to explore", and he is like "NOAH SPOILERS".
For fucks sake you can't say anything to some people before they freak out that you'll ruin their precious experience.
See? I'm nice, I used spoiler for that now :M

Crooked Bee, SuicideBunny: aaaaaah, makes sense :)

is there a "highlight interactable" button a la TAB in BG2?

(also lol @ people who go into generic threads on the internet and get mad when shit is spoiled)
ALT for items and some objects. Funny thing is, I believe it's tied to your chars Perception stat and cone of vision. You will not see an item on the ground if there's smoke left after fire spell.

Okay, so after playing for 40-something hours, I can safely say this is the best isometric RPG since late 90s. It's also the only isometric RPG to have me addicted since forever - I'm more of a Wizardry gal as you know. It's differently structured compared to those classic iso RPGs, for sure, but that's also what's so refreshing about it. It builds on some pretty different mechanics compared to those RPGs, and manages to weave them into a polished, coherent whole. It's just amazingly impressive. Not something I'd expect from Larian, to be entirely honest.

I wish other RPGs followed up on D:OS's foundation, but who am I kidding.

A tip: you do want to max out the main talent for your Man-at-Arms character, if you have one in your party. With 5 Man-at-Arms, you get a really useful 50% all-magic resistance perk (!) - a must for any front line character.

Speaking of which, element resistance over 100% heals you. It's insanely fun.

Tip #2: you might want to have crafting (2-3 points) as you approach at least the middle of act 2, especially on Hard. It lets you do some good stuff, which I imagine only gets more awesome later. (Dunno about blacksmith.) However, do not invest in crafting with your main char - pick it up as a secondary skill for one of your two henchmen. In my case, it's the witch.

They need to nerf pool of oil.
Need 2-3 round cooldown.
I mean, it's ridiculous seeing the AI just getting slowed and chain burned over and over every round.
With a single caster it's already quite terrible, imagine having two. or three. or four.

That's just the early game for you. Not all enemies can be defeated like that. In fact, the further I went, the less useful I found the pool of oil. (The static cloud was a life saver for me, rather.) It still has its uses, of course, but it's hardly the most powerful or useful terrain control spell/ability I have currently.

Why the hell would you do that?

Because it's insanely good (I'm playing on Hard). I get healing + I get proper 2-h weapon damage. Imma tank who also heals. Like I said earlier ITT, I'm a one-woman front line. Add summons to that, and I can easily take enemies 1-2 levels above me.

Being a Cleric, my Cleric only does water spells, obviously. I'm doing just fine with just 8 Int.

Also, all 1-h weapons I saw sucked compared to 2-h ones, and STR requirements are overrated. I haven't had any problems with that at all.

Nice to know my 2h Water Cleric will be useful later on. I like the idea of polearms or spears to extend range, particularly for AoO. Positioning right with 2h long weapons will allow front line work with good forward reach, plus the ability to defend the mushies behind me without breaking the front line.

Has anyone tried the zombie talent? Must be great against the early mobs. And you could use poison bottles and geomancy arrows for healing.

You fucking spoiled act1 murder quest ending faggot by telling who boss is. Any amoeba will connect dots it second and after that there is no ivestigation because u fucking know who in the end is guilty.
If you don't want to create thread then at least use fucking spoilers because this is the reason why they exist.

Not that I'm not enjoying your butthurt and rage, but you might want to scroll up and re-read thread to see who said about CCing shit out of her first (ofc I don't have anything against friendly cook either, but I did just follow the lead there).

Few thoughts:

- Blood actually puts up fire. Neat
- In sequel Larian should create fog of war for closed rooms. It is too easy to actually see what is inside of rooms.
- Keys are to easy to find with standard perception. Imo vital stuff like keys or quest items should only show under alt key if you are standing like 1-2 meters near it. Same with hidden things under things. Probably it is engine quirk not resoved right now but by pressing alt you can see key under bucket and stuff.

Yeah. That I would like in the game as well. Kind of ruins the feel if you are designing a dungeon like crawler area, if you can see everything.

FWIW it was already very good for me at earlier levels, so if you're waiting for the higher levels to get good you must be doing something wrong I guess? (Don't forget about Fortify + Wildfire - I hope you have those on your mages.)

And yeah, the range thing has been very good for me. Tho' the further I proceed, the less relevant it becomes thanks to my high elemental resistances.

I unlocked the hall of heroes and I have a question: Should I take the Henchmen or stick with Mandora and Jahan? Aside from rplay reasons ( Mandora and Jahan stuck with me for hours) the henchmen appear flavorless. And they start off at level 1 (this could be a bug though) M & J also have unique dialogues and comments in certain situations.

Will I meet other companions like M & J later on, or is it only the henchmen?

And dang, they really, really should have allowed 4 person char generation. Generating a full party taking them to the end is a lot fo fun in of itself. I just can't figure out why they didn't do it. You could still have had 2 player husband/wife coplay (which Swincke really seems obsessed about for some reason) by using Lone Wolf and only 2 party members. But I digress.
