Not that I need a remake, Gothic I is great as is and forever will be :salute: But truth be told, this looks decent. Instead of stupid soulless eye-candy existing only to lure new buyers it does seem to build up on the original.
Now, for the actual gaem...

Looking at all this other shit being announced and showcased, this might actually be the only project worth of hope. What a twist.

What hope? It's a remake, completely worthless. Gothic is easy to buy and play already. Now you'll be able to play a worse version of Gothic with bonus eye strain.

Financial calendars like that are generally made by people who have zero contact whatsoever with the teams in question and are just going off of a placeholder date entered into a form years ago because it didn't allow them to write "N/A."

It doesn't matter if it's a remake, it has more potential than anything I saw in recent years. There will be nothing else to look forward to, so I'm looking forward to this.

Well it is true, ainit. If it's even remotely rugged like Gothic was - and it already looks like it will be - it will be a game of the year EASILY. Easily. What will be the competition, hm? New Dragon Age? New Bloodlines? What?

At this point they are also remakes, not sequels. Like Saint's Row or some similar trash. I don't think you're aware that this is literally the only game that decided to start from scratch instead of double down on their initial vision. The importance of this game coming out being as close to the OG vibe will be fucking massive. The first remake that isn't woke panderverse simplified diznified trash, if they deliver. The fact that it's a remake is no longer relevant, there's NOTHING OUT THERE lads. This has a chance to be huge.

Like, I might return to Diablolikes seeing how good Path of Exile 2 looks. I've been playing goddamn GuildWars2 like it's a Neverwinter module ffs. I can't take no more pixelart 8bit bullshit, it's 2024. It's time for a fucking upgrade.

I like what they shown and what they said recently. I didn't thought it was possible to redeem after the abominable playable teaser and how it started, now it looks promising. Waiting for a miracle.

I'm waiting for the remastered edition of the remake of this gothic remake, that's when the true gothic that the original creators envisioned will be realised.

Was there even any gameplay footage? I only remember crappy rendered trailer about some idiot with a death wish in Old Camp and it looked more like a trailer for Fable games to be honest.

As the biggest Gothic fan on this planet (outside of Germany and Eastern Europe), I consider this remake haram and proclaim all those who speak positively of it as heretics.

The only good thing this remake can offer is to introduce some noob game designers who don't study older games to the glorious game design philosophy of Gothic 1, so they realize how exploration, difficulty curve, progression and building atmosphere should be done in RPGs. Some vestiges of all that is going to remain in the remake, because they're coded in the original game's DNA.

That's my point in a sense, and all I wanna see happen. If it achieves that it will be more than any other product has delivered. I don't care in what form the Reset comes as long as it does. This is the only thing that looks like it actually tries to pay attention to the Old Ways

Which do you prefer, Gothic 1 or 2?

It's complicated. In a sheet in which I rate all the games I have finished, Gothic 2 is the only game I have rated 10/10 and Gothic 1 is a 9.5. (for comparison's sake, Fallout 1 is 9.6 and Curse of Monkey Island is 9.4).

I still stand by this and I know Gothic 2 is a better game, but throughout the years, I have grown fonder towards Gothic 1. Due to its smaller scale, it creates a more focused experience, so it appeals more to nostalgia.

Give me the gameplay improvements of Gothic 2 with the setting/atmosphere of Gothic 1 and I will never need another RPG again. Bonus points if faction choice actually makes a difference to the end, fuck a sequel.
