The save system in this game is FUCKED holy shit :lol:

Sometimes you load the autosave at the start of the combat turn and it automatically ends your turn, giving the enemies a free turn.

Sometimes you save in the middle of a turn, load and it goes back to the beginning of the turn, but the next time you load the same save it works fine.

How am I supposed to savescum with this shit?
Never had those issues.

I am interested to see what a high budget turn-based game by western devs have to offer. How often do we actually see high budge rpgs that don't use real-time. Not sure if Jagged Alliance 3 is high budget. Maybe.
Nah, I'd call JA3 "AA". It's good, but not that multi-million budget blowout kind of good. (And that more modest origin makes it better if you ask me.)
Yeah, it's probably AA. I agree that it is most likely better for it.

How did things get to the "multiple A's" way of rating stuff? A or A+ wasn't good enough? Too many people/companies got angry with getting a B?

Anyway
It's not a rating, it's the size of the company. AAA are the big bois like Rockstar and Blizzard. AA are big but not at the same level, think Obsidian when doing Pillars. 50-100 people give or take.

There's no definition, it's making fun of the movie industry where everything used to be A,B or C but then eventually everything started being called A, so they had to keep inventing new categories above it. AA, AAA etc.

To get a good ending for green diamond you need to safekeep and donate it to museum? Looks like commies sold it lol

Also presidents daughter is unhappy because the corporate whore walked away and it ended up in court, she said she deserves to be in jail. Any other endings to it? I killed colonel, saved Biff, checked the refugee camp after attack, spared Major, what else needs to be done?

Turn on "To the Bitter End" mode, problem solved.
I'm almost to the end of my third playthrough with a single IMP merc on the highest difficulty and with "To The Bitter End" activated, so no save-scumming mid-combat and no retreating. I had to reload maybe 10, 12 times? Melee is so OP isn't even funny. What a great game, I highly recommend everyone does this challenge. Shit gets real and you're running around half-health with a bunch of niggers shooting you like it's Christmas in Rio de Janeiro.

I'm at the bottom left prison as we speak, in the game right now. Went in with Barry, and Raider. They have been wreaking havoc, but 17 enemies... I just wanted to say:
:shredder:

Live reporting: Camo vests are saving their asses. Took out the guard at the tower with an explosive, no one else reacted.

Live report #2: Barry sneaking around with a camo vest, disabling mines, and Raider sniping people from the guard tower. I think the outside will be fine, but the underground floor?

So Below
The Prison Basement is something else entirely, it's great how you can tell how much a of a bastard some bastard is going to be depending on what kind of piece they're carrying, and IIRC there's at least one motherfucker there packing an AUG.

This game actually has some pretty good interior environment combat, which is a shame since it's still real rare. The bunker fights and the prison basement are standouts.

The Underground is piss easy if you just go inside from the building, and don't use the big entrance at the perimeter wall. Once inside, you can comfortably put overwatch and kill most enemies running towards you in a couple of turns.

What do camo vests do? Reduce enemy detection range from 10 squares to 2?
At least in JA2 1.13 you need to have a spy character and get some disguise to get close to enemy..

Hard to say whether it decreases detection range, adds to the time it takes to be detected outside of combat or who knows maybe both depending on in or out of combat status since you can remain undetected while in combat. It will probably be one of those things autistic testers, data miners, or a developer will have to reveal.

Reading the description, only says that you are harder to detect, and you are harder to target.

-Harder to detect by enemies
-Aiming is less effective against camouflaged targets

These are the exact words that I am writing from the item description.

EDIT: So, Barry, and Raider are now double the level of my other mercs. They are both decked out with great stuff. Pure terminators. Spoiler ahead for the prison: I killed Jackhammer.

The underground was fun. Less challenging than I feared, but from this whole map, at least I know that these guys can design fun levels.

...It's getting really tiresome really really fast to constantly haul weapons to Tony where Flo (very punchable face) ditches it...

It's available in JA2 1.13 at least since v4870 (2011 build) as default setting to be able to sell directly to the locals.

;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; Enable/Disable the ability to sell unneeded equipment to the locals.
;
; TRUE Enables the ability to sell items from the sector Inventory screen with ALT-LMB option.
; FALSE Turns off the option.
;
; PRICE_MODIFIER is a divisor, 4 = 25% of the item's value.
; Setting a value of 20 would mean 5% of the items value, and a value of 10 would mean 10%.
; Valid ranges for PRICE_MODIFIER are -1-100.
; 0 forces the system to dynamically adjust the Price Modifier based on game progress with greater progress resulting in a
; larger modifier.
; -1 works the opposite of 0. Greater game progress causes a smaller modifier resulting in greater income from selling later
; in the game.
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SELL_ITEMS_WITH_ALT_LMB = TRUE
SELL_ITEMS_PRICE_MODIFIER = 10

For other hotkey combinations selling, see hotkey list in .\Docs\Manuals\JA2_113_Hotkeys.pdf [Hotkeys PDF earliest available in v7xxx 2014 build].

-------
...I might need to try a version of the game where I give Bobby much better gear at start and myself a lot more money so I can start with a Delta team...

IIRC, Bobby Ray selection availability is based on item coolness that's tied to game progress (hotkey 'V' to show game progress).
Search for those settings under [Strategic Progress Settings] if need to tweak; FYI quality of enemy composition is tied to game progress too.

;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
; These are the Starting cash values for the various difficulties.
; The only restriction with these, is the INT32 they are stored in. (range is about 2 billion)
; You can also set negative values here.
;------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STARTING_CASH_NOVICE = 45000
STARTING_CASH_EXPERIENCED = 35000
STARTING_CASH_EXPERT = 30000
STARTING_CASH_INSANE = 15000

So alternatively, buy the better gear kits when hiring mercs to simulate sending your Delta team in.

Most mercs do not have better kits and for thosr that you might run into ammo problems before you liberate Dressen airfield

There is a shit ton of characters mods with most of them being of dubious quality or having animu tacticul waifus.
But some people try to bring more of the original cast with their voiceovers (I was thinking that it will be AI-generated, but apparently it's the JA2 audio files).

Sometimes you load the autosave at the start of the combat turn and it automatically ends your turn, giving the enemies a free turn.

I suspect this happens when you close the loading screen with Enter instead of clicking "Start", coz the same key ends your turn in combat.

I've been aware of this feature. I've started 1.13 save recently (needs more shootin after finishing JA3) and I did exactly that - I bumped modifier to 50% (divisor 2) and repair/sell in field. Only use Tony when I pass by, since he gives like 75-80%. It's so much less hassle it's not even funny. No more Flo and Gasket muling around.

OTOH, I've started to dabble in spy/intel feature, not sure about it yet. I've seen X8 Sharpshooter in intel shop, it's hilariously out of current coolness

I just watched some gameplay videos about this and... it's the first game since Far Cry 2 where you can massively shoot 13% of the population without any regrets. This makes this game funnier than 99% of recent games/shows/movies. Am I wrong here?

It is funny game, not only beacuse you can murderhobo almost everyone.
Merc banter grew onto me, it is like 80's action movie.

KalЫna's voice was insufferable so i never hired her. But the devs seem to have a soft spot for battle grannies. Gun totting granny gang in one town, granny sniper superhero in another lol Not to mention all the other stupid shit that was outside of the main story like old nazi making supersoldiers, ebola zombie outbreak, crazy serial killer obsessed with teddy bears, nigger Indiana Jones that talks with his chicken. Real madhouse that belongs to sci fi mode.

The main story itself was ok thankfully. Loved the merc banter too, guess i hired the right ones.

Yeah, banter is pretty solid. The devs really wanted to get this one right and it shows. There random dialog in towns as well between citizens
(that boomer joke about chess took me back) and between the militia. Quite a few VO lines which take a bit before they start repeating.
I think they went a bit overboard with the pop culture references, it's like you can't far without hitting one. Makes it feel like a theme park more than it needed to,
imo, and it's really welcome when you see something that's actually not outlandish.
Early on Bastien has a reference to one Offspring song that made me chuckle, on the mainland there's also a visual reference to a Korn album cover
in one of the sectors, the Junkyard refers to Dune, plenty of character faces look like I've seen them somewhere on a cover of a game back in the 90s... plenty of shit if you're into that.

Not unlike JA2, squad composition will affect your fun. I had to go Kalyna because how annoyingly dumb she is (that's low WIS for you),
but they managed to get the banter to flow rather naturally. Fox and Wolf had this one talk about how they really want to do one another, then Red tells them to go get a fecking room.
Red has plenty of entertaining quips, like calling people wee doobers, or that one time when he interjects into the conversation with Maman that being greeted with
open arms wasn't exactly what he had hoped for. Plenty of stuff like this in the dialog and digging it all out will take quite a few playthroughs.
Also, I like how Fox in addition to breaking the shit out of stealth makes every line into an innuendo, but YMMV.
I also thought MD would be more annoying than he actually turned out to be. Still, he's mostly on militia training duty.
Flay was a bit of a disappointment for the hoops I had to jump to get him, on the other hand, Stoned Larry war rather fun, if out of place.
Ivan (EDIT: Obviously) Igor has plenty of vodka jokes if that's your thing, also makes fun of the communists and has at least one "in soviet russia..." joke.
On my end, I can also recommend Meltdown. Feels pretty meta when comments that enemies will totally see her sneaking around.

I guess... if a safari experience is what you're after, there's also a lynching which you should be able to see in the demo, and you can explode the shit-and-stick huts with grenades rather easy.
The shtick of everyone talking like the waitresses from 'Allo 'Allo

Real madhouse that belongs to sci fi mode.
Yeah, this.
Funny thing is, Fallout 2 was accused of going too heavy on the pop-culture, but it never bothered me there.
And in this game it does. One needs to get grounded before you let this shit take off.

Just take mercs that journalists complained the most and fun is guaranteed.
Wolf-Fox banter is cheesy innuendo from porn 101, too bad there isn't more.

Steroid is so over the top, but he cracks me every time.
