Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
The USA was founded largely for tax reasons. England was protestant when the Mayflower set sail and it was still protestant when the slavers kicked off later on
Seems the common wisdom knowledge is indeed wrong, or at least too simplistic.

https://www.history.com/news/why-pilgrims-came-to-america-mayflower

Apparently religious freedoms was not the only reason for the pilgrims to peace out from Yurop, seeking new life and new opportunities played a role too (don't see anything about taxes tho). But jitters about the imminent Thirty Year's War and the mighty Catholic powers ready to crush the budding protestant movements was undoubtedly a factor too.

Ok so i tried beating Capon at archery but its impossible, probably because of the shakes. I've managed to hit the target several times but in most of those the arrow just shattered. So fuck it, i didn't get the bow.

HOWEVER, i think i actually beat him with the sword lmao. He played it off like we were even, but when i talked to Bernard he warned me about pissing him off. Wonder if i set myself up for something here.

Ho and yeah, i tried the tournament and got my ass handed to me by the first guy. Ho well, come next week and i'll be more than prepared. I think i'm starting to figure out the combat system. I was able to get some perfect blocks against Capon and i also discovered the clinch perk is overpowered as shit. I picked it up because of the quest where you get to punch people and noticed how easy it was to push them against a corner then punch them in the face. So i tried it with Capon and i got the same result except i was able to combo him over and over. I gotta try this shit on the tournament next time it comes.

Alright, fuck honesty lmao.

Decided not to actually pay the vagabond and steal the money from the guard myself. This game makes thieving too much damn fun. I didn't think of following the guard around, just put on my darkest clothing and started checking the sleeping guards around where the tournament area is. Didn't find him, but i'm just pickpocketing guards left and right. I trained my pickpocket skill with the Mill up to five. There's two guards posted at the gate which are pretty easy and i managed to get to level 6 and i'm now trying the guards sleeping inside. Even with zero noise gear they seem to have super hearing and i have to inch my way bit by bit. My stealtrh level is 7 i guess it has to be higher before i can move around more freely. Pickpocketing gear so far is pretty crappy so i don't have to worry about getting too rich too quickly and make the game a cakewalk. Tomorrow i'll have to actually try to follow Pazdera and see where he actually sleeps.

One question. I talked to the Bailiff and he told me to meet this guard in the church. Can i postpone that meeting for a bit or is it time sensitive? I wanna try to get some of those quests out of the way as i found a thread on steam that says the storyline kicks into high gear again once you talk to this guard and its been moving pretty fast already as it is.

if you don't meet with him, he'll wait for you around 11 am near the church the next day, if you meet with him you'll have to follow him around/do the quest iirc

btw one of the biggest disappointments in this game for me was that it was said one of the pickpocketing victims has locked up his daughter cos she was too beautiful whatever, I've looked around there is no daughter

Have we played the same game? nothing truly change if you pick choice B instead of choice A, you'll get the same consequences. The world around you doesn't care.
Just like Henry, your life seems to be completely different from ours, because you don't know how to read.

I'd recommend a trip to your local scribe.
The game is linear, check every guides about the main quest, nothing change at all no matter what the player does.
https://kingdomcomedeliverance-archive.fandom.com/wiki/Quests
So if you have played once, you have experienced everything it has to offer.
Not true, broad strokes the start and the end are the same, yes. Thats pretty much every rpg. But depending on checks and times you may end up getting or skipping on different quests and cinematics. You can fail to track down Runt and not ever face him for example, some people will die if you fuck up, etc.

I beat Capon at archery and I suck with the bow so I think you just scuffed it. You have to aim down and to the right, as the bow tends to fly up and you're situated to the right of the target. I forget if Capon plays it off but from what I remember if you trash him he admits it, but I could be mistaken.

The tournament is impossible unless you get training from Bernard and get perfect block and dodge. Even then, master strike makes it 10x easier so I'd recommend getting it to, and clinch master is very strong as you can usually get a free hit off of a won clinch. Feinting is your best friend when you're trying to land a naked hit from neutral, and you can also use combos as well, though it's a bit harder to chain them at higher levels as the enemy often perfect blocks and counters you.

Yeah but did you have the kind of debuffs i have.

I think the shakes is the one that made me fail it, because 70% of the time whenever i actually hit the target the arrow would just shatter. After a couple of reloads that's what made me gave up.

So i found the cowardly knight looking for "honor" while doing the birds quest. Was able to beat him really easily. I'm super happy that i started on hardcore right off the bat as i think i got a great handling of perfect blocks and i love that i have to actually look at the weapon instead of the cursor icon.

This quest was very Baldur's Gate, not really that historically "accurate" but i'll let it pass. It's a video game after all so what can you expect.

The bird quest is pretty fun too. I set all the traps and i'm now plotting the best way to raid the bandit camp that's nearby. I'm getting Stalker vibes here. I wanna try to pickpocket them first so i can get some XP for that skill than just try to lure them one by one and pillor them with arrows to train my bow skill, since i can't hunt animals yet.

This quest showcases one of the things I dislike in this game. It tells you to press CAPS LOCK, so that you can walk slowly behind him, but his walking speed is faster than yours, so that you have to constantly switch between walking and running to catch up.

On an unrelated note, I really wish they made the game with a Czech language dubbing, would have been much better.

The Czech dub should be available now, they've just posted some party picture celebrating the release.

Sacrilige, I know, but this being a non-issue with a controller is one of the reasons I prefer it.
Also, either Cech (Čech), or Czech. We are not chechnyans :)

Finish this quest if you haven't, I believe the next one wants you to meet up with Hans in the morning to hunt but there's no issue to ignoring him while you run around and do quests.
Is that one of the first quests in the game? I remember dragging Capon half-dead back to Rattay. And then a bunch of cutscenes, and then I have to get on a horse and head out to Neuhoff right away, when all I want to do is take a bath, repair my armor, and sharpen my sword. I didn't meet them in the courtyard fast enough so I failed the quest.

If you'd just let Hans hang around upper Rattay in the morning you could explore at your own leisure and the quest wont fail, this is what I did when I replayed the game last year.
Hopefully the sequel is better about this, the back-to-back pacing in these early quests is not only obnoxious but probably gave a ton of people negative first impressions.

Well, i tried it. I went looking for birds which took me all day between the cowardly knight quest, the bandits shenanigans and some murderer i met on the way back (which i couldn't report, but at least i beat the crap out of him).

So the next day i go look for Nightnigale but i'm suddenly told i have to go meet Theresa before noon. Talking to Nightingale is supposed to trigger the courtship quest but apparently i waited too long and it triggered by itself. I guess that's an indication not to skip main quests yet. :(

I'll talk to Nightingale as soon as i'm done with this wench and get it over with.

On the plus side, i robbed Pazdera and half the guards in the sleeping tower lmao. My pickpocketing skill is now at level 9, stealth at level 12. This game was the most fun i've had playing a thief in a while, but i suspect as soon as my skills get maxed it will probably turn routine. Already pickpocketing has lost a bit of its luster considering it has become a lot easier from when i started. The first couple of seconds are critical after that i can go past 12 or even 15 seconds before i get caught which allows me to rumage their shit to my heart's content and then some.

Holy shit lmao i got stopped by a guard and he said he found stolen shit. I was pretty sure i had put all the stolen items in the chest but then remebered i also stole some keys, and i just discovered i can't put those in the chest. So now i gotta walk around with stolen loot i can't shelf away. Nice.

[EDIT] I reloaded and nobody has come after me yet so i guess the searches are random. So now i gotta be on my toes walking around for a few days until the keys are no longer marked as stolen.

[EDIT #2] Another guard came to search me. This is fucking retarded.
