Gonna repost this here in case anyone's interested:

I plan to introduce three additional major areas during the game's time in Early Access. Two of these areas are already in their refinement phase, one is still in its design phase.
I also plan to improve the combat and AI systems further. The full version is intended to offer a wider selection of spells, weapons, and enemies. Additional quests are planned as well.

The game will remain in Early Access for approximately six to twelve months.

  • Are there leveled enemies? Do they exist, or are areas populated with static strength enemies? Do enemies respawn?
  • Itemization. Is it all Longsword level 1/2/3, or are there actual varied and named items that can confer different tactical advantages to the player through either active effects, immunities, etc?
  • Spell system. Is it more AD&D 1/2e, or the "Fireball 5" style?
  • How is character development handled?
  • Quest compass, does it exist? If it does, can it be disabled and are quest journal entries written in such a way that you can actually play with it disabled?
  • Item highlight. Does it exist and if it does, is it tied to a skill or optional?

I'm not far into it at all, but it's a huge improvement over the demo version I played. Kudos.

Also some of the chargen portraits made me laugh. Are these backers or what's the story here?

Portraits are shitty and feel like made with noob photoshop filters, but i remember them from playing beta. Hopefully the dev makes something better.

Had some shekes from summer sale refunds and so i bought this. Not going to play any time soon, but feels good anyway. :smug:

Four people I could not reach, but I sent the list of assigned keys to DarkUnderlord.

  • Static strength enemies - no respawns, but some conditional spawns (that's more of an experimental feature at the moment though)
  • There are plenty of utility items and some magical items that will push your stats
  • The spell system is a mix of arx fatalis and ultima underworld. I guess some utility spells are inspired by AD&D2.
  • Attribute+Skill points at level up shrines
  • No quest compass - you can place notes on maps though; Journal entries are sorted in a separate menu. Probably closest to Gothic I think. You can also take your own notes in an additional menu
  • There is a search skill that eats focus (derived character attribute that recharges over time) and can only be activated when that attribute is full

Those are actually metahumans. I still want to get an artist to work over them.
You will probably notice that there are some corny outliers in the character assets.
Especially wrt voices. But I have written those lines like that on purpose ;)

Chardev, combat and itemization?

Combat is a bit janky, sometimes you can kickstagger enemies to death while spamming attacks with zero stamina, sometimes those attacks do zero damage. Strong enemies tend to use health potions at red health but you can kick them at yellow to give yourself a window to finish them off because if they start drinking they just tank all your attacks. Hard to judge itemization so early into the game but I found a straight upgrade to a starter knife in a hidden locked chest after 1.5 hours and a nice axe that I cant use atop some shack that I climbed by stacking boxes. Also you can repair all your metal weapons by using forge and anvil Arx Fatalis style.
