Reviewed it. Gave it the lowest possible score. This game is a travesty. Everything shit about modern AAA boiled down into a single, miserable experience.

It's shockingly poor, and any media outlet (or reviewer, rather) giving it even a half-way decent score can't be taken seriously.

This is what you get when every single thing in your developing process is outsourced. Working from home or from office isn't as much of an issue, the problem is that the different studios working on your game are completely unrelated and don't have proper communication, which is hard and near impossible to do if you're not good at managing projects.

I knew it was going to be bad.

But I really didn't expect "Worst than Foreskin (or whatever that shit was called)" dumpster fire.

Shit, I might actually have to rename my low budget porn game so it doesn't share any similarities with Redfall. :argh:

They should've just cancelled the game rather than risk the possibly of ruining Microsoft's first-party game reputation.

I still stand by Deathloop not being as bad as everyone thinks it is. It has its problems (namely the AI being dogshit and the short length of the game) but Redfall seems to be a dumpster fire of another type entirely from what I've seen. Deathloop is worse than their previous games by quite a bit when looked at objectively but it got a lot of negative reception here just because it had a black protagonist and black antagonist when the characters themselves were shockingly inoffensive and milquetoast (they didn't even lean into the blacksploitation angle which would have at least set the cast apart from the rest). Even if you look past all the wokery with the cast of Redfall it still looks like an unfinished mess of a game with very little to redeem it.
That's it: Deathloop was still an Arkane game. A needlessly stripped down Arkane game, with a central gimmick that Arkane themselves have already employed to better effect elsewhere, but still for all that there was enough of recognizable Arkane presence to it.
With this, what is at the very least implicit to all the takes I've seen, is that it doesn't even feel like an Arkane game. Rather, even if all the technical issues were to be ironed out, this would remain something that could very much be some by the numbers, throwaway AA co-op shooter you'd get from something under Embracer's embrace.

How relevant is this? His indie game Weird West looks dumb.

Redfall had 6000 peak players, meanwhile Age of Wonders 4 has 36000.
Also Redfall has dropped below top 30 in top seller list.
Why do you people judge games like that? You are players, not shareholders. Judge it on quality, not success.
And don't even pretend you think sales or how many people play a game is a sign of quality, as if you think Fortnite and League of Legends are the greatest games ever made.

The player numbers thing is just the lowest hanging fruit. While I agree with the sentiment that player count does not actually matter at all towards a game's objective quality, when the game is designed as a multiplayer experience first and foremost that player count tends to actually impact how actual players will engage with the game. Prey having tiny player numbers might be tragic because Prey is a good game but it doesn't hamper the experience of someone playing it, Redfall can hardly be held to the same standard if it was meant to be a games as a service breakout hit that draws on many different industry giants but fails to capture even a fraction of the playerbase that they have.

Prey is hardly a good game with its awful unique recycled ennemy type and terribly balanced weapons.

Hardly a surprise when so many women were involved. 7 out of 23 is a fucking ridiculous ratio in the tech industry. Credits are not publicly available in MobyGames yet so I am not sure how conclusive this photo is.

Directors don't do any blue collar programming work, nor they develop any ideas. As the name suggests, they direct. Their job is to check on their teams' progress and see if they are working within the time frame and budget they were given, and take action when necessary (ask for more time and/or budget, which doesn't mean the project is going wrong, just that they need more resources).

Chad Stevens could only do so much when he forced to work in a literal hen house that is Arkane.

My God... what a shit show. They should just send a bunch of computers to a zoo, i'm sure local monkeys would make a better AAA game than modern "developers" .

Age of Gaywonders 4 is at 53% mixed review score on Steam right now. Another quality release.

I'm curious how long Bethesda is going to carry economically other studios. Their entire source of revenue lies in Bethesda games: mainly Skyrim and Fallout 4 thanks to the modding community and also TESO. Even under Microsoft helm, I doubt they will continue for long.
Other releases have all been failures:
- Quake Champion
- Rage 2
- Wolfenstein Youngblood
- Prey
- The Evil Within 2
- Deathloop
All failed.

They will probably absorb teams, stop outsorcing others, etc. The games might've done badly but those are still delivered projects which serve as R&D. I remember Josh Sawyer saying that he knew sucesssful people in the industry, with 10 years of experience, who had never shipped a finished game before.
