Sure bitching and moaning is the bread and butter of this god forsaken website, but atleast play it yourself or read/watch some reviews before you get down to business?

That's fair. It's not like there's 20 years worth of Todd games to draw conclusions from.

What the fuck is it you actually do on these barren planets?

Whatever Preston Garvey XVII asks you to do.

Are mods for Fallout 3 and 4 so good?

The bulk of Fallout 4 mods are shit. The ones that are good are either very big changes (Frost), or things that make already existing fans of the game have a better time. A lot of quaility of life type mods that are worth getting in that regard. My playthroughs on the norm consist of around 50 mods give or take. Skyrim on the other hand, I go with around 250 mods on the average and have had a robust difference in playthroughs over the years. I can't say the same for Fallout 4 in terms of variety.

Are mods for Fallout 3 and 4 so good? Because so far I've seen modders are only interested either in fantasy games or more realistic ones like STALKER or ARMA 3.
New Vegas got more love from modders than 3 or 4, but it's still eclipsed by the TES modding scene.

We all knew Starfield would be a shit game specifically designed for niggers by a bunch of landwhales from the day it was announced

What do you mean by "niggers"? If you mean "an average American player" (regardless of race) then I agree, their tastes are noticeably different from European and I dare to say more streamlined and casualized. Or do you think white Americans are oppressed 120 IQ minority and black ones are 80 IQ players? Because if you're gonna pull out a card "blacks are dumber" then I present you a purely white American player: SDG

Also what do you mean by "landwhales"? From what I've seen most of Bethesda is actually slim looking, and I don't think how fat you are would affect your writing/programming/design/whatever. Counterpoint: The slimmer Gaider became the more trash his writing was.

F4 needs no mods bc. you can't outdo automatron. Also it's highly doubtful even Bethesda can outdo itself it's evidenced by starfields lukewarm perks.
Good mod for F4 is pseudo NG++ = getting late content early so "start me up" (really well done revised after 2020) at lvl50 and scoring assaultron companion early.
Clearing Quincy was a blast last day I went nearby for robobrain questline and gunners were shooting while I was busy looting assaultron legs. Ofc then went back to reciprocate...

New Vegas definitely got the majority of love from modders compared to other Fallouts, but I feel like the modding space for recent Bethseda games is also decidedly more tame. You don't get as many huge gameplay overhauls as you did in the Oblivion era, or even Skyrim. Currently it's mostly visual mods and porn stuff.

Not sure if this is a modding culture thing, engine limitations or what.

Yup, Oblivion had the best mods, not only complete overhauls of cities and wilderness which made the hiking fun, but also complete overhauls of combat mechanics and encounters - Deadly Reflex 5 combined with OOO made the game quite a decent action game too.

I didn't play much Skyrim, but I think it has overhauls comparable to ones overhauling graphics in Oblivion. However, I didn't find anything that would improve combat in any significant way.

Overall, modding for Skyrim was much less interesting and gameplay changing than for Oblivion. And other Bethesda published games pale in comparison even with Skyrim.

Hence my prediction that Starfield won't get much modding going.

The human eye already has motion blur baked in. I have no idea why we need an extra simulated layer. Games should only simulate what the human eye can actually see in the real world all this photography crap only exists because companies feel games need to be "cinematic" and other bullshit crap like that.

Lack of bugs probably works against Bethesda since their games being bugfests drew away any attention that would've been reserved for talking about the writing or gameplay.

Because a monitor isn't reality. When a real object moves in front of you it continously reflects light towards your eyes. If the object moves fast then it doesn't register for long in a particular location, which makes it look blurry as the brain tries to make sense of the input from the eyes.

Computer screens don't work like that. A game renders the entire field of view in a set moment, and then again a moment later. Our brains interpret this as fast moving objects teleporting instantly from position to position, making the motion look choppy rather than blurry.

Photographic distortions like chromatic abberation and lens flares are bullshit, but motion blur post-processing has a place until we get monitors and gpu's that can render a game at high enough FPS that they look like real motion. I suspect we're looking at 500+ fps before the brain can't tell any difference for the fastest moving objects.

I thought post-processing stuff like motion blur/depth of field/lens flare are more about trying to emulate an actual camera focus/lens rather than the human eye. Which is why I usually disable that shit immediately.
I also can't believe most game don't have good Anti aliasing in 2023. BG3 is particularly terrible it's either SMAA that does barely anything, make shadow all dotted or TAA blurfest
