They don't need to "set themselves apart from BG3". BG3 is Forgotten Realms/DnD. Rogue Trader is Warhammer 40k. This alone is enough.Yeah sure, that's a convoluted 3d chess move to set themselves apart from BG3 and not blatant pandering to the romance tard crowd.
And, yes, it is "blatant pandering to the romance crowd". That was the whole point of my post when I brought up BG3. It doesn't cost them much to add some romances to the game, while also having the potential to attract some of that BioWare romance crowd. It's a win-win situation for them. So I think you're being fabulously optimistic by saying "this kind of pandering is one of reasons Bioware's product steadily declined in quality and the fact that it is now a dying brand", because it still seems to be going strong. If there is a reason why BioWare is a dying brand it ain't because of romances.
My take is that people either like them or don't give a shit about them.
