After way too much grinding for a man in his early 30's my sword specialized frenzy barb got to Hell. Lucky me, I'm in hell.

Two things held me back.
1, I didn't realize how important for damage the base damage of your weapon is and I was wasting time with a basic runeworded sword. Getting a proper base upped my damage significantly.
2. There are no good runewords for swords in nightmare. I was still rocking strenght and king's grace from Normal (I think), because Lem runes are next to impossible to find. And I did spend many days looking for them in Lower Kurast. I should have respeced to maces, but I didn't. I endured.

Finally, after reaching lvl 62 and getting better weapons and armor I was able to kill Baal. He was actually easy at that point, it's his minions and the whole level proceeding him that had to be overcame.

So, now I get the good runes and the game becomes fun, right?

Been playing some Star Wars: Mysteries of the Sith. It's really good, made back in the day when expansions WERE expansions, adding new content and missions. Individual levels also tend to be bigger in this one than those in Jedi Knight. You start off as Kyle for a few missions, then switch to Mara.
Playing as Mara Jade is awesome.
Gonna eventually continue on to Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy.
It's gonna be FUN.

Finished Beyond a Steel Sky, the sequel to Beneath s Steel Sky,it's ok, graphics are good, story could have been a bit better, puzzles were mostly good and logical without moon logic, although they used the hacking mini game a bit too much, and some were on the easy side. All in all a decent game, get in during a sale
Did they bring Dave Gibbons back too?

He is mentioned in the credits although that intro comic does't look like his style

I'm playing Wasteland currently. My highest level party member just died right outside of Base Cochise thanks to some unlucky rolls in the desert and my own stupidity. I think I went through the first four stages of grief in half a second when I realized what had happened. :negative:

Core Keeper

I have been at a crossroads of sorts with what game to play. With Starfield coming up, I don't want to be involved in the middle of a long playthrough of another game or invested into an MMO. So I have been working on my backlog. After a few failed attempts with various games, I decided to play some more Core Keeper. They have made some really nice additions to the game since I last played. A lot of new places to explore, items to craft, and quality of life improvements. It can be a very relaxed game if you want it to be. These game always scratch a similar itch to that of playing with Legos from years back.

I think I've accidentally softlocked myself in Wasteland. I found out on the roof of Base Cochise after taking the helicopter route(didn't feel like going through the desert again) that I needed explosives to get through the roof, and climbing down from the roof as the Wasteland Survival Guide describes seems to not work, no matter which wall I try it on. To be fair though, it's my own fault for not packing more explosives in case something like this would happen.

This is actually the second time this week that I've gotten softlocked in Wasteland this week - the first time, one of the ROM Boards wouldn't spawn in the sewers.

I'm getting heart palpitations just from writing this out so I'll be taking a break from Wasteland for a few months and maybe play some Gold Box or Ultima instead.

Was trying to get into Wizards & Warriors recently, character creation filtered me. Really not into this degree of randomness in your starting stats and having to spend so much time on just doing the character creation research in order to avoid suffering down the road.
Will give it a go another time, maybe.
Also playing through Ashes, a total conversion mod based on GZDoom. Currently playing through Dead Man Walking episode, this mod's reputation is well deserved.

Shadowverse champions battle. Imagine Yu gi oh tag force but shadowverse related.
Pros:
-Going around the world and doing quest/dueling is pretty fun.
-Games are quick. Think a quicker animu Hearthstone for reference.
-You only have to beat somebody once to unlock their deck so no grinding there.
-Lots of card puzzles, I like that.
-Fast forward options is a given and every game should have it if it even smells a little bit animu.

Cons:
-Only three packs mean that you are going to get a lot of duplicates thus forcing you to buy cards from specific shops. These shops restock as you progress through the story. So pacing in terms of getting cards is nonexistent and glacial.
-Once you beat somebody there is no indication that they updated their deck so you have to check every chapter which is annoying.
Also most locations are just underutilized after their introduction.
-The story is very boring.
-Season pass content tied to online only.
-Map markers everywhere. I wouldn't mind if the game didn't tell you to investigate and then just give you the location on the map.

Cons connected to the card game:
-AI CHEATS. Anything past a rank is just straight out cheating. AI knows your hand and constantly draws what it needs. You have a aoe spell, AI won't play anything of value. Loose 4 times in a row and the same AI magically bricks consistently.
After legacy of the duelist I am getting tired of cheating AI in card games. GAME DEVS,YOU CAN'T COUNTER CHEATING AI IN CARD GAMES.
-Pacing of the game is very bad. 2/3 of the duel will be nothing and small setups for the last part to be a explosive combo wombo.
It gets repetitive but cygames wants every duel to be decided around the 8th turn and wants the first 4 turns to be a joke.
-There is no real interaction with anything. No proper searches, no graveyard interaction, no way to counter spells, no traps, etc.
You plump your 1/2 trump cards at the 5/6 turn and just wait until you win. If you don't have them you loose.
-Classes make no sense to me. Dragons just wait until the 7th turn while shadow and blood have to do multiple setups just to survive.
Runecraft needs to play spells which they will play anyway while the others just play the game normally.
-Balance and mechanics are just weird and unbalanced.
You have summoning sickness yet you have game winning monsters who ignore that. You have amulets that draw card and amulets that deal 6 damage to everything. You have spells which damage one thing and spells which kill one thing lets you draw and summon shit.
You have wards yet most monsters with wards suck or there are countless spells to easily remove them.

The general game part around the card game is decent. Closes thing to a decent singleplayer card game in years. Unfortunately the card game has too much questionable choices to be worth it.

Finished Risen last night, and now I feel sad, because it ended. It's probably my favorite Piranha Bytes open world, even though it's not their best game. Apparently, the game was updated a few months ago to a 64-bit executable, so there are no crashes anymore. Other than that, there are no significant changes as far as I can tell, except for controller support. The climbing bug is still present, so if anyone plans on playing, make sure to cap your fps to 60 using RivaTuner. All in al, terrific game, beginning to end. Well, maybe not to the end, because the final boss sucks. Btw did you guys know that Inquisitor Mendoza was voiced by Andy Serkis, and the Don by John Rhys-Davies? They splurged a bit on voice talent, and it shows. Both actors did a great job.

The next game on my list is Risen 2. Oh boy...

Finished Yakuza 5, like Yakuza 4 the game story is set in four parts each following different character and a final part where all plotlines intertwine. I didnt like this in Y4 because the story was carried by characters that have little or no presence in previous games. So there is too little time to build their characters and their stories with little background. Y5 fixes this issue by having most lead characters being returning ones. First Kiryu story is great, the new characters are great, final fight is great, and its all around a well paced interesting story. The second Saejima part is a mix bag, it starts really good with some time wasting moments, then you get to a pointless boring part in a middle and underwhelming ending, overall it is still good due strong start. Third Haruka part is awful, I hate the idol stuff and couldnt wait to finish this part. It does get more interesting after Akiyama shows up and Haruka does have a nice heartwarming ending in the finale so she redeems herself a bit. Fourth part follows a new character Shinada who is mixed bag of a character, he feels like a self insert of a gaming writer who fantasizes being a baseball player. This part is ok, even if the story is a bit stretched.

The main plotline connecting all of those stories is a mess which is not helped by a underwhelming villains and too many forced twists and cliches. Still overall its a fun game with some really strong points and some rather weak ones, and I would rate it better then 3 and 4.

So far my Yakuza series ratings are 0>1>2>5>4>3

Finished the story campaign of Titanfall 2 and its ok. A competent blockbuster movie with stunning visuals, a cool time travel level with gameplay of a modern corridor shooter. For few bucks I paid for it a worthwhile few hours time waster.

Now starting Yakuza 6, been playing a bit of Duke 3D, System Shock remake and Panzer Corps 2.

I lied, I went back and finished it

It feels great to have done it, but not again for at least 2-3 years

Excellent game but the thought of rolling yet another party and going through the Las Vegas Sewers one more time makes me sick

Wasteland is a frustrating game...
I attempted to play the C64 port a year or two after release. The puzzle elements and nonlinearity brought me to my knees so I quit early; had no idea where to go or WTF to do. I then attempted the EGA DOS port a few years later. The random encounters of trash mobs every few steps crushed my will to continue (much like my attempt to play the C64 version of Bard's Tale III) Considered the Krome Studios remaster because their Bard's Tale remasters were so good but I haven't heard a good word said about their Wasteland. I guess I'll never play Wasteland again, but perhaps maybe the sequels someday? Never say never (except for Wasteland 1 of course).

Was trying to get into a M&M6 by following a suggestion to create an all caster party because apparently might-oriented characters suck in comparison to magic ones.
Plus that suggestion to start with but not invest heavely into earth magic because magic arrow is a better starting combat spell.
MM6pAXPgKd2jD.jpg

I was enjoying myself, cleansed the goblinwatch, entered the abandoned temple and... lost all of my interest to continue.
Not because of some major shit factor or anything, more like a combination of various minor annoyances.
Like:
-The hunt for skill trainers, they're not marked on the map
-Too much time spent on inventory management
-Overall pacing of the game being is a bit too slow for me, with all this constant walking back to temple in order to cure goblin STDs. Might be more on me though but i still can't get that Loyd beacon fast enough.
and etc.

I do adore the general "tone" of might and magic games from new world computing. Still, as far as dungeon crawlers go i would prefer something closer to Doom.
