FWIW it was already very good for me at earlier levels, so if you're waiting for the higher levels to get good you must be doing something wrong I guess? (Don't forget about Fortify + Wildfire - I hope you have those on your mages.)

And yeah, the range thing has been very good for me. Tho' the further I proceed, the less relevant it becomes thanks to my high elemental resistances.

It is still way early for me... just turned level 3 and no companions yet. Thanks for the tips.

Fighting the Sparkmaster now but none of the remote commands seem to work... although it's just melee'ing and not doing much of anything.
The remote doesn't work outside of combat

Ok, I just received an achievement named after a Roky Erickson song. This is officially the best thing since sliced bread.

At first I was getting my butt kicked but then I realized I could recruit both Jahan and Madorra... derp. Now I've done a good portion of the quests and am sailing along at level 7. I wish I spent a bit more time figuring out skills/classes before I started as I went with a Cleric for one of my main characters. Not awful, but probably not optimal. Making him a tank so it's nice to have another heal alongside Jahan (who I gave pyro so he can nuke shit with fireballs). Also gave the Cleric tank the Earth skill so he can fortify himself and toss down some oil.

The combat in this game is some of the best I've ever experienced in an RPG. Initially I thought the overemphasis on status effects and combos were a bit much (especially fighting the undead where poison and fire was everywhere... and wtf exploding pigs?!); but when you gain in levels then you're able to manipulate situations to your advantage. Really well done. Hat's off to Larian for finally making a great game after the abortions of Div 2 and DC. This is easily the best product they've ever put out and they did it without a AAA budget.

Wondering if I am missing something, or if my game is bugged.

Doing the initiation into the immaculate quest in Silverglen, I got through the trial, found the bloodstone and cured my rot, but Loic is nowhere to be seen? I went back to Silverglen and he is not there either. I don't remember him saying to look for him anywhere else. Am I just supposed to continue dicking around in Silverglen?

edit: hurrrrr nevermind. i am an actual retarded person. fuck.

Recommend Me a Difficulty Setting:

Tonight or tomorrow I will be starting this game co-op with a mate. He's never played an RPG before (except for Planescape: Torment) but he's very good at games in general and one of the best at quick system mastery that I know. Can you change the difficulty during play?

I'm playing on Normal because I didn't know what to expect, I think there's only one difficulty level higher (Hard). After a rocky start things seem fairly easy but I'm only about 70% through the first area.

You can tune difficulty while in game, so just start in normal and see how it goes...

You can change difficulty while playing, but the "secondary difficulty toggle" is Lone Wolf (E.G, one less companion for each character with lone wolf) which should be taken at character creation or never.

The game is actually fairly challenging at normal. Props to larian for naming the difficulties right.

Worth mentioning that Lone Wolf + Glass Cannon kind of reverses the Lone Wolf curse. You get double AP instead of another character, end up with more HP than you would anyway. The only downside is that CC will cripple your party, and there's plenty of it.

On the outside it looks like a really nice game! And when you start playin it you get the same feeling, until you go into combat! Because this aint like no other game i've tried in a long time, because you shift turns attacking! This totally ruins it for me, im tryin to play a game but its more like a game of cards or maybe like the game Heroes in a bad way!!

So so disapointed and sad over loosing 40 eu haha.

I like the graphic, i like the the idea of the fightsystem and some quests and dialogues (humor or just good so 1 of 5) but thats all, the traits-system is unlogical, the mainchars are boring, find the murder of jack is just run from a to b to c and so on, very boring and so long, the mobs are most time the same: some rangers, one or two mages and some meelees, the Ki is stupid(if u notjust run in) u need no tactic, just the element spells and counter or protection, the bosses have no specialattacks, only more damage and bossmelees mor hp, summoners gets all the aggro
the few dungeons are small, and the traps just irritating

zoom in is needless cause no tilting of the camera
and many atmosphere things how missing animals, day and night are missing,

u cant explore the map outside cause of the lvlcap of the monsters( to strong, 3 lvl difference u die after one hit from an orc), the map is too small for , so the game is very linear,
i dont see the open world, u can only decide how u get some things(jack murder), if u break in or steal or talk with an animal
maps look big, but isnt, u just move slow, there is not much
decisions have no effect, just if u fight or not most time, but most not memorable
if u are lvl 10 u saw almost all skills, the spellcasting is slow, especially summoning, but many spells too,
the town is under attack, but u have not feeling for this
looting many things after fight makes me tired, scroll in postion when moving the same,
i dont know how people needed 30 hours for the first map, i have read all text, i have all quest, i played on hard after lvl 5 and needed 15hours, i wanted try more fights, so I killed all soldiers in the town, this was a nice, but short fun, know i stop playing, i have no motivation, i hoped i would be better, but after the fights were no challenging I see no reason, and i am afraid of another long boring text- and walk-quest with no surprises

yes its a low budget production and it could be I`m to critical, but 10/10 is
greatly exaggerated
is think the 80% of the budget went into the editor and technique, the rest seems like a better mod

4/10

Seems like there is a new slew of bad metacrit 'reviews'. I might have to register just to counter those, dammit.

This is better:

"
I have spent a couple of hours with this game and have found it to be a great disappointment. While I have no doubt that the creators took advantage of the latest in modern technology, it comes across as primitive. You can't see where you're going and movement is awkward. While the graphics quality is better, it's like playing Ultima, back in the day. I don't have time for this. If you enjoyed Dragon Age, you'll be as disappointed as I was.

This game is good because it draws from strong elements from several series. It has the realistic items and freedom of an elder scrolls game, the strong dialogue and questing of the Baldur's Gate series, and the tactical turn based combat of fallout/arcanum. The game draws all these elements together successfully

Ok, so I am on the second map, can anyone tell me what to avoid because it could break the game? A certain quest I should wait with?
