Is there a comprehensive crafting compendium? Because I'm starting to get flabbergasted at the sheer quantity of combinations that actually _produce_ something.

Also, I really dig how the crafting 'recipes' are like no-brainer explanations of things. It's the kind of shit that when you read you go "wtf, this is some dumb stuff but I'll just try it and...w haaaaa?". It reads like generic fluff text, but it actually matters. BRILLIANT.

I am really loving this game. I want to hug Swen (and the bros) but he's too tall and my arms won't reach (all the way to belgium and then) up to him.

Performance is excellent so far.

Combat is difficult though. I don't last long against any of the mobs outside the city and I can't recruit the big female companion because Scarlett (she wears the trousers and beats me at rock paper scissors) won't let me.

I think I've done what there is to be found in Cyseal and I need to go off to continue the quests, but can't. There's nowhere to grind up exp to get to the next level either. Right now I'm at level 3.

Yo Vault Dweller, a while back you were kind of dismayed by the Codex when we voted for D:OS over PoE for "most anticipated Kickstarter RPG". Are you aware of this game's extremely positive reception, have you played it and do you still feel that way?

Ok there is definitely something going on with hit chance VS lvl.

Hit chance supposed to be tied to your main stat (offence rating) and bunch of other stats but it doesn't really seems to take that into account. I may be wrong but actually lvl itself gives + to hit chance ( and whole offence rating is minor stuff)

I'll test that via starting new game.

Iirc there are some groups of undead near some abandoned houses if you exit through the NW gate. You should be able to take them out. Then proceed in the direction of the lighthouse.

The easier fights initially are:
In the tunnel below the graveyard
right at the west gate out of Cyseal (plus you can run back to get some help from the guards)
helping the archeologist trapped in the house a bit north from the western gate
generally the undead west of Cyseal, although some fights require a bit of positioning, tactics and luck

I managed to take them out, although my male mage (the companion you get through one of the main quests) died. Didn't mind that, it was challenging and I had to think. A little further on I got massively outnumbered, though.

I have made a lot of gold through stealing paintings and gold cutlery so I might spend some of it on potions and I should probably try to get more spells for the mages. The biggest problem I have in combat is how much AP the enemies have. They can charge right in and kill my mages, and completely ignore my warrior who's meant to be the tank.

The town is also oppressively large and takes too long to walk through, with not enough waypoints. Going from the North Gate to Aureus alone is too much too often. There should really be a sub-menu of waypoints in town, but not in the wilderness where you are much less likely to have to visit the same place multiple times. I'm still loving it, but the pedestrian backtracking isn't adding anything to gameplay for me.
It's not even a legit hiking simulator like some other much more popular RPGs of recent times. And you get a teleport cube from a goblin so you can warp around all over the place so what the hell is he complaining about? Unlinearity and backtracking are pretty much symbiotic in a game like this.

No spoiler/vague help:

Matt7895 , hey. I'm around level 10 and just leaving Cyseal now so you should spend a little (a lot) more time there finding things to do I wager.

I thumbed up this review and I'm not ashamed of it.

He's pretty good except for the full voice complaint.

Turns out Man-at-Arms gets its own self-teleport (+ burn everyone around you) ability, called Phoenix Dive. It's a lvl 8 ability, but I've only now found the skillbook.

WHERE, nevermind don't tell me.

Best words to describe playing this game. I want to know everything... but I want to discover it myself. Also, man, reading this thread has had some awesome moments. For example, the
Pergamon staff quest. I went through it thinking it was just a simple fetch quest, killed Dietmar without him saying anything about Cecil, without knowing Cecil is trying to turn into a lich. Turned it into Cecil, never suspecting anything. Just thought he was an old coot and the staff a worthless piece of junk. Should have known better, I guess.

I just realized the Codex imps are actually voiced. Can't believe they bothered to record voice acting for that.
