With the ending - we did it more or less on purpose. At the beginning I wanted a hand to hand fight on a huge statue of Lenin.

Final fight with Franky Horrigan, hm... :P
Was that giant statue of Lenin just a cybernated or robotized body for a revived brain of Lenin? Or something.

I finally got some alone time to get back to ATOM—fucking Christmas—and I continue to be impressed.

Does anyone know how much personality you need to seduce the female guard at the factory? I failed with 8. :(

No, just the perk tree and its mechanics. Its boring and shit and inferior to the game that inspires the whole thing, which is baffling. Why would you go with something obviously worse?

Sounds like it was a player poll that decided it for them in the end. I believe Atomboy has said it's probably one of the most complained about aspects, and that they are going to go back to the drawing board with it. It's definitely my least favorite aspect of character progression too, so I look forward to it being changed for the inevitable "enhanced edition" playthrough I'll do in the future.

1 minor detail i appreciate is how the 3D models of NPCs looks similar to their 2D portraits. like clothes, headwear and facial features. the 3D model isn't exactly fully detailed, but you still can perceive their features is in line with their portraits. the background in the 2D portraits are also make sense the the actual environment you find them.

i was gona say opposite and wondering if it was difficult to make it more similar because IMHO thos things exactly are what differentiate an common worker from artist no matter how much money is in game. anyway to be honest i dont give a fuck its a great game as it is and im sure it will improve GREATLY!

Make the Codex Great Again!
Also, Lhynn, I know you take issue with the ability tree and its lack of exciting options, but are you also against how the attributes and skills develop as well?

Agreed. Not a fan of the perk tree. Not because it's a perk tree, but because many of the options are flat bonuses that might as well just be extra skill points. They don't make your build/playstyle more interesting, and that's the problem.

Thank you grandma!

Come on Atomboy, spill it, this was intentional Cleveian humour, wasn't it?

is there a way to edit my characters stats midgame? i want to fix up some of the attributes without having to restart my 13 hour game

Game save files are essentially archives, you can ignore the weird .as file extension and open them in 7-zip and edit the file inside with something like notepad++ or sublime text, contents are pretty self-explanatory.

note your xp from the character screen, and find the first instance in the extracted file (like "xp":"yourxpvalue") since there are more than one instance of attributes are recorded. Attributes and skills come right after that.
Be careful that setting your attribute value to 2 digits (namely 10) makes the game to not see your save afterwards (like go from 3 to 9 or smth). rezip and change extension to '.as'. Game should load your save

Finished it, and really liked the ending.
Not just the very ending, everything tied to Dead City and the other extra map. I wonder if Dead City isn't another wink at Underrail Deep Caverns?
So... ATOM is really a love letter to Fallout. I am not sure if it made the game easier to make because it was copy/pasted, or proved difficult because you had to stay ''that'' close, but yet to define your own identity (which is a total success imo). I guess a mix of both.

My biggest criticisms:
- The combat system is really the big letdown for me.
- And the inventory could use a skeleton system.
- Some locations could use more NPC
(like the farm north of Red Fighter, where a single woman is capable to repel wave of bandits 24/24h 7/7 days. Just add 2-3 dogs there, and it would actually work, since they are farmers they feed their dogs, and the dogs in turn can alert them (or the girl), if something gets close).
Because on this tiny farm, my suspension of disbelief died a little bit

Finally we have Fallout 3,it is shame the codex is filled with a bunch of new wave posers.
Ok, but by suggesting that this game is the FO3 well never had you are not doing it any favours. You are just creating a hype that's impossible to satisfy.

Comrade from Bulgaria had a valid point the discussion about F04 and 76 is hundred pages long cause Codex was flooded by wave after wave of Neo-gaf and 4-chain retards who say edgy shit but play popamole gavno for consoles. As to this being F03 why to not say this? Its closest thing to original Fallouts will get cause Bethpizda are bunch of tastelessness and greedy hacks and Obshitian went full SJW and last true talents there: Avalone, Gonzales and Zeits are long gone or reduced to SJW cucks. Its better Fallout game than this German Game last days of Gays or something, better than Underrail, better than Age of Decadence and sure lot better than Wasteland 2 was.

Those threads should be deleted with extreme prejudice.

Some people compared this game to Dead State. Do you know how many people enjoyed Dead State? I also saw players giving up on Underrail because their fans couldn't stop blabbering that it was like Fallout. You will also find players saying Age of Decadence is comparable to Fallout. Basically, any game that has some resemblance to some feature of Fallout is enough to motivate people to make these retarded comparisons. The result? Inevitable disapointment and unnecessary criticism.

By saying it's better than other people's favourite games you are not helping it either.

This is ridiculous. You have it 100% backwards. People tried these games because they were told they resembled Fallout and in some cases stopped playing them when they realized there were many important differences. Like, Underrail is a dungeon crawl for fuck’s sake. Age of Decadence has a lot less freedom than Fallout if you only plan to play the game once.

ATOM, on the other hand, is very similar to Fallout in terms of its setting, its themes, its character progression, its mechanics, and its mix of combat, exploration and dialogue. There are very few significant differences. If you liked Fallout, you will like ATOM. That’s simply not true of something like Underrail, which only appeals to a particular segment of combat/systemfag Fallout fans.

Yeah, ATOM RPG is basically a 1:1 clone of Fallout 1 if you ask me, and I just completed Fallout 1 a few weeks ago so it's fresh in my mind. The game is incredibly similar. Also, there are hints of Dead State (which is a criminally underrated CRPG, play it and see for yourself if you don't believe me) such as meeting survivors and having random encounters with scavengers, etc.. The graphics are also reminiscent of Dead State a bit, as are the maps. But yeah, this game is Fallout inside and out, no question about it.

No, YOU got everything backwards.

The early enthusiasts supported these games because they enjoy their features.

New players will buy, try and play these games if they like what they see.

Every time you compare this or other game to Fallout you are creating hype and misleading expectations.

How this game could possible be comparable to Fallout if it wasn’t made by the same team of American developers, with a completely different mindset, superior budget and a better engine? For starters, the first Fallouts were isometric. Is this game isometric? Of course not.

The developers themselves said the game is inspired by Fallout, Wasteland, System Shock, Deus Ex, and Baldur's Gate. I don’t need to remind you that these are very different games, my friend.

Now you go on. Keep repeating that this is the best thing since Fallout to express your precious fanboy feelings and watch while people trash it because it's a completely different game.

People never learn.

The truth is, you have no idea whether what I’m saying is misleading because you haven’t played the game and are just talking out of your ass. Calling ATOM a Soviet Fallout clone (as in extremely similar but not quite as good) is setting up accurate expectations. The fact that it has a rotatable camera is a very small difference. If you played the game, you would know that any similarities to System Shock, Deus Ex or Baldur’s Gate relate to the game’s tone, not its mechanics or much of its content. It is far more like Fallout than Wasteland, but considering that Fargo wanted to market Fallout as Wasteland 2, I don’t see how these two influences are mutually exclusive.

Also, because I can’t resist, Fallout is NOT isometric. It’s cavalier oblique. How can you be such a blowhard about this stuff without knowing that?
